Just here trying to stay sane. Immigrant/blue/ Illinois/ CMhomeschooler/my Jesus is pretty woke.
Princeton IL (pop 7800), in red downstate Illinois. Police was friendly, people were peaceful, and much support from drivers. I (an immigrant) chatted with 2 veterans, a pastor, a British dual citizen, grandmas and kids. We sang the anthem. The sun shone brightly. This is America.

Congressional Republicans own this! Call them. Write them. Don't let them evade. Push back when they lie and evade. Be better than the fucking media at making these assholes accountable for the SHIT job they are doing for their constituents. We all deserve better!
In the middle of the night, House Republicans released the text of Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill." Despite what they've said for months, it's now confirmed:

They're ripping health care away from millions of Americans to give their billionaire donors another tax cut.🧵

A Christianity that is offended by someone advocating for the poor, the immigrant, the hungry, the sick, the marginalized, and the oppressed, is a Christianity that is offended by Jesus.

Therefore, it is no longer Christianity.

Impossible to communicate to people that once you decide that a group more vulnerable than you can be sacrificed in the name of your own safety or interests that you have already entered into an tacit agreement that you can also be sacrificed in the interests of a group less vulnerable than you.

Go ahead and cut medicaid and see if we can still have hospitals.... because let me tell you, people are still going to show up in ERs, and hospitals are still not allowed to deny emergency care, and people will not pay that bill because they can't. It was already bad before, about to get insane.

I don't think people in the US fully understand how much our government has made us broadly hated in other countries
Canadians are now labeling food with a “T” symbol if it’s American and impacted by tariffs. RIP American-made food sales.

How to read the market:
1- How Biden left things
2- When business/investors/people thought Trump was going to be good for the economy
3- Reality.

From the Book of MAGA:

For I was hungry, and you closed my food bank and eliminated food safety inspections;

I was thirsty, and you cut clean water regulations;

I was a stranger, and you arrested me with zero due process, flew me to El Salvador, and imprisoned me indefinitely.

You know, I was an international student in the US once. I remember how expensive it was to pay international tuition, and even though I graduated top of my class, I was not eligible for ANY scholarships to help. Do you know how pissed I would be if my visa was canceled a month away from graduating?

But no, it's from the list of grievances against the king of England, in our declaration of Independence.

Do you own a copy of our founding documents? Declaration, Constitution, Bill of Rights? Do you teach your kids from them? Ya should

1990, Brazil - the year my father lost his engineering small firm because of a "bright economic idea" by a president. We woke up the day after the election to our bank account savings frozen.
I'll tell you how that ended: people went out to the streets en masse, and the dude got impeached in 1992.

Either:
1) Things will cost way more for a long time;
2) American made is the future, which means higher prices;
3) Both, simultaneously.

The era of cheap, consumerism, replacement, is over for the majority of the US. It might be helpful to re-learn how to fix things, and reassess what is essential
