TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".

I will never understand why the shift in public demand from the written word to short format video is attributed to short attention spans.
It takes FOOOOOREEEEVEEEER to get information out of a video. It is *SO* much faster to skim an article and focus on the info you need.

Ich glaube nicht, dass Geschlechterrollen angeboren sind - ich kenne dafür kein plausibles Argument. Aber selbst wenn es so wäre: Wäre das nicht völlig egal? Ist es nicht genau das, was unsere Spezies auszeichnet, dass wir eben genau nicht auf unsere angeborene Natur reduziert werden können?
