the border patrol's early years (when it was quite literally a make-job by fdr) were particularly trigger happy. it's also a lot like cops and the us military where a lot of the people who are willing to sign up come from families where the culture of shooting your issues are especially ingrained.

I'm the exact right amount of influential: enough to change an institution from the inside without somehow ever being discovered or fired, but not enough to support myself independently. It's honestly a crazy coincidence but it works for me.

There are so many brilliant authors who seem to have an organic ability for building a narrative that supports and is supported by an indeliable concept and image and that's the hardest thing on the planet. It's one thing to come up with "ghost of baby you killed", writing BELOVED, otoh...

You don't need me to tell you don't do something that makes you sick but if we talked about how often alcohol made people scream and vomit we'd be here all day. I'm not discounting CHS exists but the way it's reported on doesn't pass the smell test.
