BREAKING: We won!

Today the 3rd Circuit Court ordered the @post-gazette.com to restore our contract it illegally tore up 5 years ago. That’s our health care, PTO, right to a 40-hr. work week, short-term disability and so much more we’ve struck for 3+ years.

Sequence data from the new Ebola outbreak in DRC suggests it is indeed a new spillover.

And just incredible to see the virus sequenced and the data publicly shared less than 24 hours after confirmation of the outbreak.

I’ve spent two weeks thinking carefully about this, and I’m going to do my best to explain the theory of change for RFK’s removal, as I see it. That includes where impeachment fits, what to ask from House vs Senate, etc.

I have never seen so many public servants protest the mismanagement of a government. Trumpists will point to this as proof of the deep state, but the reality is that these are professionals who are desperately trying to get the public to understand how bad things are.

🧵 There are only certain things I remember, my memory is shot. It’s why I innately distrust ppl who try to impress with refs to books, Latin or theories etc.; there is one exception - the knob-end quote. Unfortunately it’s WB Yeats’ Second Coming. It’s particularly loved by pseudo-intellectuals. [1]

I get a lot of "lessons learned" questions. My answer is "none." We didn't learn anything.

In Jon Cohen's great piece on a recent CoV pandemic meeting @science.org, Maria Van Kerkhove said "everyone is acting as though this pandemic didn’t really happen."

That feels more true every day.

Here's an uncomfortable tidbit:

Bordatella is named after Jules Bordet, from french speaking Belgium. Pronounced BorDAY.

Really, we should be saying "BorDAYella pertussis."

Thanks to the first Canada acquired H5N1 case, there’s an uptick in “bird flu pandemic imminent” and “omg it’s gone H2H!” posts. Those are not accurate.

However, given the situation in the US, I have some real concerns about this that grow progressively more grave.
