Woke up this morning with this guy on my mind and thought "I simply must cross stitch him" and so, hours later, here he is.

Cyberpunk is an interesting case. One of the level designers did a GDC talk about how their approach changed between base game and Phantom Liberty and what you mention was sorta one of the takeaways. Different approaches weren't creating different enough experiences. youtu.be/lXLRd5Kah-I?...

One underlooked thing that makes Baldur's Gate 3 infinitely replayable is how "Jaquaysed" every single part of its level design is.

"Jaquaysing" is a term named for Jennell Jaquays, whose dungeons were beloved for their non-linearity. To "Jaquays" something is (reductively) to make it less linear.
