It would exemplify a big flaw in political media culture if 90% of the discourse is about which adjective - racist, discriminatory, wrong - is a legit way to challenge this

But v little discourse involves asking the man proposing the policy to explain his differential treatment of different groups

Public opinion is outcome of complex interaction between fact, perception, and ideology — which are shaped, to large part, by (social) media and politics.

The gap between fact and perception is growing because neoliberal media emphasize extreme outliers and dominant ideology emphasizes mistrust.
