I absolutely hate it here.
We had to collect 180K signatures to put proposition A on the ballot to increase minimum wage to $13.75 and guarantee sick pay for Missourians. The measure won.

Just now, the Missouri House voted to overturn our will. Without signatures…with a vote. They do the bidding of the wealthy.

We learned that lesson last year
Hot take: I don’t think university presidents are going to be the morally righteous leaders academics want them to be

As an educator, I’m appalled and terrified by what’s coming. After reading P2025 last year, this has been like watching a train wreck happen in slow motion, wanting to get off the train but not having the means to do so. #edu #wearecooked
RIP U.S. Department of Education. Education Secretary Linda McMahon introduced herself to department employees with an email calling on them to join her in a “historic final mission” to downsize the agency and shift control to the states.

My #Kobo needed a travel sleeve and I had the perfect fat quarter in my stash. It’s always a good day when two of my favorite activities come together for a joint dopamine session. I also might be slightly addicted to #sewing bags. 🖤

Tomorrow, February 28, let’s disrupt the status quo by spending ONLY at businesses that uplift our communities.

That means:
🚫 No gas from corporate giants
🚫 No fast food chains
🚫 No big-box retailers (Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.)

My Kobo came today! I love her so much! The page buttons are magical. The color? Fantastic.

It took me less than five minutes to turn it on, activate it, connect my library card, and start reading. I’m happy I made the switch and kicked Amazon to the curb.

Made it past the chaotic heel! My pattern was written for one sock - magic loop and I decided to do two at a time. I’m loving how these are turning out. Onward and toeward!

Big news for anyone with federal student loans: after we rang the alarm, a judge stopped Elon Musk and his team from seizing your personal data.

This is why we get in the fight.
Judge blocks OPM, Education Department from sharing personal info with DOGE
The order is the most wide-ranging block on DOGE’s activities to date.

We are not disposable. We deserve love, care, and spaces for rest.

As a limited-income, white, non-traditional student, with children DEI programs kept me persisting and retaining at my community college, state university, and private-religious grad school. I chose a career path to give back to the programs that helped me.

Now I might be jobless at anytime.

In the states, it’s rare for a #highereducation institution to sponsor and hire a staff member who is an international applicant. I’d love to hear from current higher education staff members in #canada and the #uk if it’s a possibility for me as a DEI #sapro in the US to look internationally.

Second project for the #skykal: first time doing two at a time socks (magic loop). Casting on took three tries but I got there! Also trying cuff down this time.

I’m making them out of a Dream in Color worsted skein because I want warm cozy socks.

Finally.

A Missouri judge on Friday cleared the way for abortion procedures to begin in Kansas City and across the state, blocking clinic licensure rules that represented the last remaining obstacles to renewed access.
