AscDan Neidle pointed out in his detailed article a wealth tax will collect relatively little money
The idea that we can do it when it's been tried and failed in many other countries is typical British exceptionalism
He also points out much more effective measures

UK wealth tax: high risk and anti-growth
Claims of £24bn from a UK wealth tax ignore delays, capital flight (£200–£500bn) risks to growth and employment. Data, country evidence & better reforms.

We’ve already started, tax on the top 10% went up 2% overall for the top 10% of earners & CGT rose too in the last budget, I expect this will continue.

The Greens are now a party of populist grifters.

Not sure Polanski will want to work with Corbyn either
His tails up, he's already grabbing the support of Corbyn followers. Not sure he'll see any advantage in an alliance with a person who has a lot of baggage, which might be a drag on Green support in the rural seats the Greens will be targeting

Agree, whoever comes in will almost certainly be damaged by next year's local results, which are going to be bad

Then people will be calling for a new leader and we'll replicate the shambles of successive PMs that so damaged the tories
If he's to go it should be much closer to the election

False claims have been made about Labour's actions on Israel and Palestine Action in comments to our posts.

Labour have fought for peace since Oct 7th. While the police have been heavy handed, Palestine Action are terrorists, and people should not support terrorism.

Here are the facts:

We've seen the effects of stamp duty holidays before, all that happens is that house prices are put up

if she wants to cut house prices she should support Labour's plans for planning Reform and new towns

If we want affordable housing, then build more, it is supply and demand

Not only that, but also appointing Judges he wants

Understandable, but with no disrespect you'd have thought the tories wouldn't have picked someone who is dyslexic to check it

He said a stupid thing
If he had gone to a town which only had white faces he wouldn't have said it was a failure to integrate

Besides the fact everytime I've been to Handsworth I've seen white faces

What he said was nothing to do with integration and everything to do with stirring up racism

The finances of one of Nigel Farage’s key confidants are being examined by the UK’s tax and revenue authorities amid questions over his income from wealth and business activities, the Guardian understands.

While this is true, Reform’s core electorate are ppl who don’t understand local govt and readily believed a lot of guff about how councils were wasting their money & may not take kindly to Reform led councils hiking their council tax (the one loc gov thing they do notice).

You see this with the 'now Reform are in government, they will be tested'. Yeah, this was true of the Greens, because the places they win actually can still do governance. None of the Reform councils are meaningfully doing politics in any real way.

Monthly disposable income fell by £40 per person under the tories. The first time in British history that disposable income has reduced over a parliamentary term.

In the first 6 months under Labour, disposable income rose by £55, a larger increase than under any other government in the same period.

Sorry but the idea it's "the most right-wing Labour government ever" is as fucking laughable as Syed's delusions (an arguably stems from similar myopia. They raised taxes by the most any government has in modern history.

A useful template for parties who want to introduce PR, joining the single market or even the EU, no need for a Referendum just a manifesto commitment

Genuinely mad isnt it. The UK is now one of the 2 or 3 most ambitious nations on climate and supposed Greens are just... pretending were not

The UK right is now committed to:
1. Abandoning net zero
2. Removing UK citizens’ human rights
3. Tearing up current and future deals with the EU
Yet many on the left believe the priority should not be the right’s defeat at the next general election. The self-indulgence is off the scale.

If you claim there is no difference between this government and one run by the right, you are a deeply unserious person wallowing in privilege and/or blinded by complacency.

It's been tried in numerous countries and has failed to raise much money
Seems like more British exceptionalism that we can succeed where others failed

The only way to raise the huge sums the Greens want is the big 3 taxes
