The concept of the corporate state was way underplayed in fascism studies for too long. The institutional union of the government, big business and the church to crush labor is the distinguishing feature of fascism.

Our would-be tech lords are appropriating religious imagery to garner support and confer legitimacy on their antidemocratic and authoritarian vision for the world.

Universities are places where left-wing ideas can be taken seriously (though not exclusively so, if one is honest), and the right cannot abide any institution that it does not dominate.
