I did and I'm not a hold out, but I'm also still not convinced. Yeah - I can smash out greenfield projects like the Dickens, but as a daily driver on a mature codebase? It's still worse than a Junior Dev.
If you are a programmer and an AI hold-out, and you have some time off during Christmas: gift yourself a 100 USD subscription to Claude Code and … try it. But really try it. Take a week if you can afford it and dive in. It will change your opinion on these tools.

Worked hard to get this into Guardian Oz & big props to @fiercemum.bsky.social for setting it up & Melissa Davey for publishing it. She will doubtless get loads of hassle from transphobes for it, but it needs to be out there.

It was bad enough to be treating women like they're too bored or stupid to enjoy coding, but working with Raytheon? Oof.
Yep! Next to the thing down below they also have girls specifically work on missiles for the military

Pretty disappointed in both @humblebundle.com and especially in @girlswhocode.bsky.social. Please teach girls how to code, don't push them into generative AI. That won't build their skills. Prioritize foundational programming skills and awaken their interest. "Tired of long days writing code"???

@thdxr.com I've encountered something similar in OpenCode (in OC's defence it did at least have a timeout) - is "long running process awareness" something it could handle better? I like the idea of the agent backgrounding or tmux'ing the process, and remaining aware of it.
my claude code often gets stuck when it runs dev server or similar and then for some reason just waits forever on it. is there a way to teach it to never get stuck

What boggles me is that there is never any addressing of we _get_ software architects in this paradigm. The coding has never been the time-sink, and people can't develop expert knowledge without practical application. If we use these tools, they should be to augment, not replace.
the disdain for workers losing their livelihoods just drips off of this whole fucking thing like mud off a pig. The smug confidence of a man who has convinced himself that HE is definitely uniquely irreplaceable, only LESSER work is under threat.

i am going completely insane watching gamers make up shit about horses and interrogating every single thing the devs have said for inconsistencies and then deciding well it probably had cp in it. this is the easy mode version of the kinds of censorship that are to come and you're failing like babies

Jon Gaines (Gainsec), the offensive security researcher who was featured in my recent video, lost employment today.

Jon discovered the vast majority of the vulnerabilities with Flock Safety (among many other things) on his own time, which I believe will ultimately result in Americans being safer. 🧵

BUY SOMETHING!

Is it truly social media anymore? Or is it more like selling media? It invades everything.

It's obvious to wealthiest and most powerful people on the planet don't care for nature, climate, the earth or the universe.

So I painted the invasive nature of ads in nature.

No Facebook and I've lost the Instagram I spent the last two years working to pull out of the gutter... All because Meta relies on a poorly trained AI to run the platform.

I have no choice but to post here now.

Reading this now is so fucking funny... I hope the girl who thinks I stole the name Ravenella from her AI generated slop image is happy she got me banned from social media.

I've had this domain registered since 2023.
I'm not leaving any platforms but I will keep making an effort to post here more. I've had this account longer than I've had threads, and I made it before I even really returned to Instagram. Trying to grow as a content creator anywhere is completely fucked.

I know I'm yelling at clouds, but Meta needs to be held accountable for their racket in accusing people of wrong-doing; providing no meaningful appeals process; and causing them to close friends, family and their professional connections.

This one shares the killer pattern I find myself using over and over with container queries: responding *within* media queries to adapt to the new container size.

Once you start using this trick, you’ll see opportunities for it all over. 😄

Not only is X throttling external links, but it is also messing with its public pages. Without an account, you don't see the conversation if you go to a post. Instead, you get ads to sign up. If you visit profiles, the latest posts are not there. Useless for microblogging. Harmful to the open web.
