As is so common with the herald covering public transport, esp by this writer, there is a full-on untruth right there in the headline. No $750m is the total cost of operations not the cost of the subsidy.

All we need to free the economy from the impoverishing and destructive fossil fuel yoke are the appropriate price and supply signals. Is a technical and economic issue, where the benefits outweigh the costs, properly measured. Government's role is to set up this structure, -> prosperity ensues.
