Remember, masks aren’t just for Covid!

They also help protect against colds, flu, measles, RSV and more.

They guard against pollution, wild fire smoke and pollen.

A well fitted respirator can keep you healthy while also protecting those around you.

It’s radical community care.

Look at this chart and remember:

1) the COVID immune damage claim is that after a COVID infection, influenza gets worse

vs

2) the "immunity debt" claim is that after a bad influenza season, influenza gets better

Now look at how 2022-23 compares to previous years, and ask "Which claim was right?"
Why not both? Bad flu strain and population-level immune dysfunction from mass, repeat COVID infection.

#MaskUp and get vaxxed indeed!

P.S. We are at 29,099 cases already this year as of Dec 19.

P.P.S. Chart also shows spreading flu is a choice 🤬

Me: Excuse me sir, the store will be closing in 10 minutes.
Customer: Well I guess the store will be closing when I’m finished shopping.
Merry Christmas Eve to me I guess 😬

Infections in Canada this week are expected to result in 3,800 hospitalizations, 770 deaths (people who die at least 1 year earlier than they would without COVID) and 20,000 new long COVID cases serious enough to limit daily life activities.

With the high rate of severe influenza we are seeing do NOT take part in family gatherings if you are unwell especially if you are going to be with very young, elderly, or immunocompromised folks.

Casual reminder that the myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax designed to convince poor people from all walks of life that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than an oppressive system rigged against them.

To be blunt: if you are doing anything at all right now to reduce your risk of infection from SARS-CoV-2, you're being smart. As a result of the current high prevalence of flu, masking is back in the media. Ignore anything negative said about it. Political nonsense is irrelevant.

Your Friday reminder that trickle-down economics is a cruel hoax.

Cruel because it's used by the super-rich to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.

And a hoax because nothing has ever trickled down.

Repeat after me:

I will wear a N95 respirator as I travel in shared indoor spaces (healthcare facilities, airports, public restrooms, mall, etc)

I will not visit anyone upon feeling ANY symptoms indicating possible infection (e.g., tiredness, headache).

I will test.

Air purifiers are my friend.

I am convinced in the future we will look back and realise the sheer unimaginable folly of letting a virus that can cause immune dysregulation and cognitive dysfunction in humans infect and re-infect the global population over and over again. Worse still, that we encouraged it.

Researchers in Brazil found SARS-CoV-2 uses a sophisticated tactic to evade the body’s defenses. It can dodge the immune system before invading cells, then manipulate the host cell’s genetic material after infection—an approach not previously seen in other pathogens. This helps it escape detection.

Researchers at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) in Brazil have discovered that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, uses a

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Carney's policies *very clearly* are conservative. If you can't see that, either a) your brain is melted by partisan politics, b) you're self-deluding to avoid dealing with cognitive dissonance, or c) you're actually conservative.

Recent discourse has really cemented for me that many objections to mask wearing are rooted in an insecure kind of masculinity. Wearers seen as 'weak' or 'scared'. This idea is as absurd as calling a soldier weak or scared because he or she chooses to wear a Kevlar vest.

* There is no such thing as "just a flu". Viral infections are bad for us.

* Viruses are variable. Non-evolutionary, typological thinking does not work.

* Viruses evolve. They don't automatically get milder. More infections means more evolution.
