Murray: I talked to a family that’s paying about $300 a month for their health insurance. It’s going to jump to over $1,800 per month.

Many people will turn away and not pay for it—obviously, they’ll lose their health insurance. The fewer people who have insurance, the more everybody pays.

"[Bodycam] video shows an agent turn federal vehicle left into Martinez’s vehicle, after which an agent says, 'Do something b----.' The agent then exits the vehicle and shoots at Martinez.

[Her lawyer] Parente said Martinez has 'seven holes' in her from the shooting."

Govt didn't show that video.

Right now, the unemployment rate is 4.3%, but for Black women it's a staggering 6.7%. Over 320,000 Black women have lost their jobs from the federal govt to the private sector.

This systematic targeting of Black women is intentional. It's devastating for our communities, economy, and our country.

The title card from the end of ANIMAL HOUSE that says Neidermeyer was killed in Vietnam by his own troops. I always liked hearing the filmmakers talk about the sadness that underpinned ANIMAL HOUSE, and it's there, just below the surface. Sure, it's also a movie where a guy climbs a ladder to spy on a woman in her bedroom, and when she starts touching herself, the guy's presumable boner pushes the ladder away from the wall and causes him to fall to the ground. But hearing them talk about the parade, and how in their minds the very next day JFK gets shot; how this impossibly safe and privileged and blinkered world is about to get shredded out of existence for all time; how adulthood comes for you with a smack; it gives the goofiness a certain charm, the minor heft that comes with the love created by nostalgia, that sets it apart from its almost countless imitators. Even this title card is more than just a dark joke about just deserts. It's a hint at the indescribable horrors to come—horrors that only existed in the first place because of villains like this one.

SCOOP — Pennsylvania prosecutors were alerted to possible voting irregularities by one of MAGA's leading voices against voter fraud. A long paper trail shows Jack Posobiec has been living in Maryland but voting using his parents' PA address for years.

According to @aila.org, ICE is launching a new campaign targeting unaccompanied children aged 14 and older. There's more information here: ailatexas.org/news/ice-ope...
ICE Operation Targeting Minors
October 3, 2025
As many of you already heard, ICE is launching a nationwide operation today, Friday, October 3, reportedly named “Freaky Friday” that will target unaccompanied children aged 14 and older of all nationalities. AILA has received information from several trusted sources. We are confident this is happening (and is not a rumor). Here is what we know: Children detained and released will be sent a “threat” letter from ICE threatening indefinite detention and immediate transfer to ICE upon age-out if they do not waive jurisdiction under the TVPRA and withdraw applications for relief, including withdrawing their request for admission with EOIR.
Children will be offered $2,500 to return to their countries of origin.
If children do not comply with the “offer”, the letter indicates their parents/family living in the US will be arrested.

TEENAGE GIRLS CAN BE DEMONS in Publishers Weekly! 🤩

Thrilled to ring in October with this beautiful review of my new coming-of-rage collection, out now from @titanbooks.bsky.social 🎃😈

www.publishersweekly.com/9781835411469
Screenshot from Publishers Weekly, showing the cover of Teenage Girls Can Be Demons by Hailey Piper, art by Julia Lloyd, alongside a review that reads:
Bram Stoker Award winner Piper (A Game in Yellow) collects 13 sharp-fanged horror shorts highlighting the dangers posed both to and by teenage girls. In the tone-setting opener, “Why We Keep Exploding,” misogynistic language hurled at a college freshman has a direct and surreal physical impact. Other stories explore dangers close to home, like “Unkindly Girls,” about a girl whose father goes to horrifying extremes to protect her from growing up, and “Thagomizer,” in which a young mother is haunted by her late son. Most stirring are the tales that show their heroines fighting back against oppression and abuse: the protagonist of “Last Leaf of an Ursine Tree” finds her power through an unexpected deal with a bear, while “The Many Sins of Clara Greenstone” ends with a righteous act of arson. The final and longest tale, “Benny Rose the Cannibal King,” is the standout, flipping a typical slasher plot on its head to create an adrenaline-filled final girl story that avoids falling into a predictable formula. The diverse cast of heroines and genuinely chilling scares make this a winner for anyone looking for feminist horror that is weird, surreal, and driven by more than a touch of rebellion. (Sept.)

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
