Naoise Dolan: ‘There are young people dying in British jails again’ — Kneecap say what the world is ignoring
It was late in the night when Kneecap began speaking about the Palestine Action hunger strike. The concert was last Tuesday at the 3Arena and with thousands of us packed in, I was to the right of the...

This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.

An “immigration judge” is not an actual judge in the judicial branch. They are a DOJ employee.

As Judge Young, an actual judge, made clear in one of the truly essential parts of his Tuesday ruling. www.lawdork.com/p/judge-will...

Pay attention to the language that will be used by much of the media.

The Global Sumud Flotilla never entered Israeli waters.

They are in international waters attempting to reach Palestinian waters.

Israel is once again breaking international law

as an author of a book on reparations I am intimately familiar with the move people make from "the thing you want isn't politically viable right now" to "you shouldn't want it, talk about wanting it, or even think about it" but it never stops being weird to me
It is actually peak absurdity that we still have people arguing that voters should bend to the positions of their political representatives instead of the other way around.

I spent the week at the police surveillance convention and let me tell you my biggest observation: The name of the game now is consolidating as much information as humanely possible from surveillance devices, the internet, other governmental data, and literally a million other places. 🧵

generally speaking, and with the glaring exception of november 2024, the more directly democratic an institution has been, the better it has checked Trump (eg grand and petit juries); the more elite and insular, the less effective (the Senate, the Supreme Court, big business)

In short, force them to try to rule by naked force because they *do not* have enough force and the very nakedness of it will mean they have less and less.

The Civil Rights movement overcame far more with far less, if we had a fraction of their courage, we'll win.

These guys are unpopular and dumb as rocks, they did not discover a secret 'I win' button at the heart of all politics labeled 'mean tweets' or 'cancel elections.'

Keep speaking, keep writing, keep marching, keep voting, force them to show the country what they are.

a question I often find myself asking these days: "are these the moves of a movement that feels that it's winning or one desperately afraid that it's about to lose everything?"
what we’ve seen from the right is the most insane case of cancel culture i’ve ever witnessed. the left has never even done close to a fraction of a fraction of what they want to do now

Monarez is playing her weak hand perfectly, and should be a model for institutional resistance for the next four years:
1. Make them fire you
2. Don’t go along to get along
3. Don’t apologize, have confidence in your own integrity and the importance of your role
4. Always escalate the conflict

I wrote something about how the power outages and flooding on the subways are a manifestation of a broader issue: our urban infrastructure as a whole was designed based on a series of statistical assumptions which climate change has completely torpedoed, and there’s no easy fix
