LOL my mom set them up at her nail salon!!! Absolutely bonkers Vietnamese mother energy!!!
My books, The Magic Fish and Angelica the Bear Prince, are set up on a marble countertop under a sign that my mother made and printed with clip art! It says, “Need a Gift Idea? Perfect for any occasion.”

if you need a basic general purpose PC right now for cheap, buy a liquidated windows 10 machine from wherever you can find one. install whatever linux distro you are comfortable with. you may/may not need to accessorize with a monitor or other peripherals.

at first you think "ah the dog is passively having fun" and then you realize the dog knows how to steer the skateboard and THEN you learn the dog knows how to PROPEL the skateboard

Corgis have an extremely low center of gravity and the density of a dead star.

PERFECT for skateboarding! 😇

I don’t know who needs to hear this but those five bags of clothes for good will you’ve been driving around in your trunk for two years? You can just drop them off and it takes two seconds. Truly wild stuff!

Can I get some recs for alt-history stories/novels in which indigenous population of Americas successfully push back (forex Pontiac’s Rebellion succeeds) & there is never more than a coastal foreign presence on the continent afterward? I know of a few but seeking more examples.

There is no real feminism that embraces exclusionary definitions of womanhood based on patriarchal notions of gender. I don’t care how anyone defines “woman.” I care abt the people patriarchy oppresses & those who benefit & perpetuate that oppression

my attitudes changed when i realized that older folks arent more likely to be homophobic or whatever it's just that millions of my elders passed away cause of AIDS. they should be here and I owe them something

Hey, just a quiet reminder: it’s not true that people get more conservative as they age. *Populations* get more conservative as they age because poor and marginalized people die sooner.

Seniors Are More Conservative Because the Poor Die Off
Sometimes older voters aren’t just naturally more conservative. It’s just that wealthier and whiter people tend to live longer and healthier lives.

On a recent flight my seatmates learned I was a writer and asked my opinion on AI. They didn't understand genAI is based on work stolen from authors, and they DEFINITELY didn't know about the energy costs. Both shocked them. People just don't know.
sorayanadiamcdonald.com
Info on its energy gobbling should be in every news story about AI. It is newsworthy. It is inseparable from the tech itself.

It's all fun and games until …

"Professor Gina Neff of Queen Mary University London told the BBC #ChatGPT is "burning through energy", and the data centres used to power it consume more electricity in a year than 117 countries."

You can submit a comment anonymously and without including any personal info. If you don't want to write your own, I wrote:

history is just so much fun!!! everybody should have the chance to enjoy. thank u
nolaycock.bsky.social
YOU know the most important part of the thing you read and YOU know why you are including it so tell us about that instead of just asking us to read it. sometimes the exact wording is important but often its not. goes 3x for block/long quotes. someone wants the full text? thats why u cited it.
nolaycock.bsky.social
common misconception I see in undergrads doing [history] writing assignments: quotes must come with a citation but not every citation has to have a quote. yes you have to use the sources to make ur case but you do not literally have to tell us exactly what they say- summarize and cite that 🗃️#writing

📣 The UUA has issued a powerful response to the recent anti-trans presidential proclamation. Trans people are sacred. Trans youth deserve safety, love, and affirmation—not hate.

💬 Read the full statement: www.uua.org/pressroom/pr...

#UU #UnitarianUniversalist #Transrights #belovedcommunity
A square social media graphic with a cloudy blue sky background featuring the colors of the transgender pride flag (pink, white, and blue) faintly visible behind a translucent text box. At the top left is the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) chalice logo in black and white. The main text reads:

“The times are perilous, and the risks are only growing. And yet the moral imperative to embody our Unitarian Universalist values and protect our beloveds is clearer than ever.
Let us proclaim with unwavering clarity to our young people:
If life, and Love, and all that is holy made you transgender, that part of you is also part of the Divine. You were not made wrong -- you were made sacred, and through you we are all made more whole.”

The text is framed by a black border with stylized quotation marks in the top right and bottom left corners.

At the bottom of the graphic is the UUA website link: http://UUA.org , and a caption in smaller text reads:
“A ‘Fierce, Unshakable Love’: The Unitarian Universalist Association Responds to Harmful Anti-trans Presidential Proclamation.”
