There's a feeling that I'm sick of. And its that I'm not allowed to stop. Not allowed to break down. Not allowed to recover. I have to keep holding myself together and keep up with everything else. Can't complain, can't falter because there's nothing obviously wrong with me.

Conventions, if you use AI do not be surprised if creators turn down your invitations to be guests or even to be on panels.

Do not use tools trained on stolen work from creators and then tell them you want to honor or uplift them - that’s not what you’re doing. You’re stealing and being lazy.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

What people don't tell you about loving someone with mental health issues is the knock on effects.

There's this lacuna where my heart is supposed to be, as she tries to keep herself from spinning to pieces, and it's so deeply confusing. It's like being haunted.

Today's screaming into the void: It feels like I did everything right, and it still didn't work. And I don't know what I want to feel about that. But I'm starting to worry that this isn't something I can remedy and that scares me more.

"it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed"

This.

This right here.

I'm so, SO tired of having to scrutinize any piece of art that even remotely resembles genAI slop just to determine whether or not it's worth a second thought or any admiration.
Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

Every time I realize that I am facing a wall that cannot be climbed, cannot be assailed or circumvented through cunning, I have to sit down with the idea that there is not a right action, a right thought or anything I could do or give that will make it better.

Just many ways to make everything bad.

It's been a great day for self-recrimination and self-loathing.

The work is always there, and by god it never gets easier. It never gets lighter and it wears you down until there is nothing but a cruel, pained thing that doesn't know what to do but hurt and hurt and hurt. Can't catch a break.

Canada Post is a service. Like other govt or quasi-govt services, it is not supposed to turn a profit. It needs to be efficient, but so do healthcare, the military, food inspection, schools, and other govt services. We subsidize it because people, businesses & remote communities rely on it. #cdnpoli

"Canada Post is on track to lose money" Hum. Duh. It cost less than a toonie to send a letter across Canada.

"Canada Post is a service and not a business" was common knowledge until late stage capitalism brain rotted most people into think if it ain't making money for shareholders, it's failing.

The point of a public benefit like transit or the postal service is that it sets the floor for what for-profit enterprises are allowed to do. The existence of publicly funded benefits acts as a strong counterweight to prevent gouging and monopolizing or cartel behavior.
The government is reducing service standards and Canada Post’s biggest advantage: its nationwide network.

This plan is about cutting back the postal service instead of investing to give it new revenue tools through things like postal banking. It’s shameful.

I feel bad, often guilty, for resenting my partner. I have stopped making bids for attention because so often they feel like an imposition. Despite the fact that she's right next door now, it sometimes feels like she's further than when she lived an hour's drive away
