Stop arguing with astroturf accounts that have less followers than I had friends on MySpace at 16. Yes some of them were fake, but so are these accounts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Super grateful for my local furry event @slabtownscamper.com . When I moved here from the bay in 2016, it was kinda shocking to go from somewhere that had events every week or so to somewhere that had very little. We’ve seen that change in the last couple years with scamper and plush.

The only doom loop happening is with our transit because the state legislature can’t get its shit together.

Dan Ryan attempts to make an apology for saying other councilors’ agenda aligns with the “national socialist” agenda in a newsletter and Instagram post earlier this week. Councilor Morillo interrupts to say it is a “non apology.”

Portland: Highly damaging transit service cuts may be coming in the next year. Still no sign of a plan on how to prevent them.

No, there is not a lot of waste in the system; almost all service is justified by ridership or equity (we did that work).

Planned Bus and MAX Service Cuts
Due to a growing budget gap, we must cut some TriMet service starting in November 2025.

Disagreement on policy is welcome and reasonable, but calling me a Nazi for cosponsoring an ordinance to ban price-fixing is completely unacceptable. Councilor Ryan edited his post, but did not disclose the edit and explain the nature of the substantive change, so it’s here for posterity.

It's very obvious that the angry right wing attacks on Katie Wilson about getting money from parents is just a bunch of people who are very wealthy but mad they got cut off from daddy's bank account and don't know the difference between that and family as mutual aid when you're poor.

insane that you *used to be* able to take an electric train from Seattle to Portland and now such a thing is essentially unthinkable
This postcard of an Oregon Electric train leaving Salem for Portland is often dated to 1908 (with some even saying it depicts the start of service in January of that year), but there's one detail that makes me pretty certain it's from after 1910. Any guesses?

One more thing. When I wrote about this study showing one-third of Americans don't drive, people were messaging me saying this cannot be true for LA.

In LA County *23 percent* of the population is under 16. Kids are people! We must plan for their movement, just like all nondrivers. Hope that helps!
Highly recommend diving into NRDC's study on car access, which @keawilson.bsky.social wrote about here: usa.streetsblog.org/2025/10/02/report-16-million-have-no-car-access-at-all

Where Nadir was killed, 14% of LA households are car-free. But the infrastructure does not match that reality
