I got a calendar reminder today. Because apparently eleven-plus months ago I came across a "thing" on the Internet and thought, oh I need to save this for next year and I put it on my calendar.

Here it is: archive.org/details/Kmar...
Kmart December 1974 Reel To Reel : Tape-A-Thon : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive
This is a digitized version of an in-store reel to reel tape that was played within a Kmart store in December 1974.  The opening Kmart jingle is interesting...

going to do a road trip, go to 100 Mile House, drive on Horse Lake Road, over to the Cariboo Mall, get some sushi or kebab, see how I feel after all that driving

I live on a street in Pinehurst that has a sidewalk!

But mostly nobody else does. It's ok for the most part, with diverters and signage, I can walk and bicycle on our "complete streets" (I, delusional, imagine)

When I drive home I turn off the arterial and say, twenty is plenty, fifteen is fine.
...if we had a traffic diverter to stop cut thru traffic. Maybe the solution for all of our non-arterial streets is traffic diverters and slow/shared streets. And all the arterials get real sidewalks, asap.

The supreme court gets to decide whether they have any credibility.
Only explicitly.

Alright, so as an exercise, what should foreigners pay to visit our American national Parks? I mean, if we're going to run this as a business.

Total NPS budget is $3 billion plus, which if you're going to divide through by population comes to almost $10 a person.

My Star Wars take is this: what if, hear me out, if "Empire" had not been such a commercial flop, what if Lucas had actually gotten the green light to make any more of his so-called triple trilogy, wouldn't that be cool? What great stories there could have been!

"hey, you better hold onto something"

Just watched "Train Dreams" (at home, on Netflix, not at the Crest matinee, though I'm regretting it). I heard it was all about great photography of Washington and the PNW, but it's a little more than that.

/^\s+$/

This is a dumb programmer joke I made to myself after being out last night at a Seattle event.

Lots of regex matches here.

I'm not criticizing anyone except myself for being there repeatedly.

I just think this is true

as an effectively rich person I struggle with it too

and I don't want to confront my friends and neighbors
Rich people being outraged at having to see poor people is at the root of many (most?) of Seattle’s problems.

I believe it bothers them so much because deep down they know they are directly responsible for that poverty, and it’s a nuisance to be reminded of that.
To be more specific, I really think it comes down to who is pro- and anti-sweep. There are a lot of people who like Harrell because of sweeps. Someone I know who is usually pretty progressive, pro-Palestine etc. implied he'd be sticking with Harrell. It's stupid selfishness in secret.
