I'm "in the meeting" on the Public line for the hearing in J.G.G. v. Trump.

I'll live tweet it if I successfully get in once the hearing starts
As someone who has always liked getting recipes online because of the variety available I recently started looking to cookbooks more (and my always trusted sources like @chefjohn.bsky.social) because of the amount of pure slop online

I worry it keeps new cooks from learning to love cooking

Note on the Comey dismissal. It is entirely normal that the judge did not touch on the merits. She dismissed based on a threshold issue and didn’t need to reach them. Much of that is likely to be addressed in the inevitable Rule 11 sanctions proceedings

Put Meta into a wood chipper
Sex trafficking on Meta platforms was both difficult to report and widely tolerated. Instagram’s former head of safety testified that when she joined Meta in 2020 she was shocked to learn the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the “trafficking of humans for sex.”
7 Allegations Against Meta in Newly Unsealed Filings
Court filings allege Meta tolerated sex trafficking, hid harms to teens, and prioritized growth over user safety for years.

This is amazing. Shaken baby syndrome is not a real thing. It is a label some uninformed doctors give when they cannot explain intracranial swelling in a deceased child. People are convicted without any evidence they ever hurt the child because “someone must have done it”

As a member of the Missouri bar licensed to practice in law in the state. Bring back the wig. (But also he probably shouldn’t be a judge anymore for reasons)
Judge Matthew Thornhill's burning love for Elvis Presley prompted him to occasionally wear an Elvis wig on the bench — behavior that a judicial conduct commission cited in calling for him to be suspended and then resign. Court documents say he agreed to step down after nearly 20 years on the bench.
Missouri Judge Who Wore Elvis Wig in Court Agrees to Resign
Judge Matthew E.P. Thornhill also talked about politics and played Elvis songs in court, a judicial commission said.

Ice agents are bottom feeding scum. Every new thing we learn about them just proves that fact
NEW: Evanston has released video + reports surrounding a 10/31 incident where a CBP agent threatened to shoot people + another beat a handcuffed man.

Please do submit a comment if you live in Illinois. This is a practice that causes active harm to inmates, separates them even more from external support systems, and even makes it harder for U.S. attorneys to communicate with incarcerated clients
NEW — Illinois residents can submit comments to state leaders by Nov. 24 to oppose mail scanning, which allows prison officials to scan physical mail and reproduce it into digital copies.
