"You're not going to have any blade left if you keep sharpening that," Olu says, knocking Jim out of their nearly trance-like concentration. "Huh?" Jim murmurs, eyes finally focusing as they pick their head up to look at Olu. "You've been honing that for half an hour," Olu replies, carefully reaching to take the blade out of Jim's hands. Jim lightly smacks Olu's hand away and picks up the blade to examine it. "You're exaggerating," they huff, before pressing their thumb to the blade to test the sharpness and find it sinking in faster than anticipated. As Jim puts their thumb in their mouth to lick away the drop of blood welling, Olu succeeds at taking the knife from them this time. "Whatever you're worrying about will still be there later," he assures. "What makes you think I'm worrying about something?" Jim asks, offended but the words mumbled around their thumb. Olu shrugs. "You always sharpen your knife when you're worried," he says, setting the knife aside and reaching out for Jim's hand, "Come on. There's soup, and Frenchie's gonna play a bit after dinner." Jim stands and picks the knife back up to place back in its rightful place, but they take Olu's hand and head out of the room with him anyway.

A FRoach drabble for #OFMDKnifeWeek. Do not take snacks from Roach's cutting board.
The finely honed blade slices through potatoes and carrots, until it clanks lightly against the cutting board as Roach lets go of it, his hand instead slamming down on interloping fingers. "If you do not move your hand, you will lose it," Roach says simply. "You wouldn't cut off my whole hand," Frenchie protests, frowning a bit when Roach gives him a challenging stare in response, "I do lots of things with that hand that lots of people, including you, like…" That makes Roach consider for a moment. "You will lose your fingertips, at least," he concedes, "But there are lots of other hands around here, and none of them are trying to steal snacks straight from my cutting board." Frenchie takes his turn at considering before nodding and drawing his hand back while it is still unharmed, and Roach gives him a smile before picking up his blade again.

Early Steddyhands with Stede realising exactly what kind of relationship he's gotten into and being more into it than he'd like to admit.

[Obvious warnings for discussions of knife play as well as past injury]
Stede wakes to voices, low and echoing in the pre-dawn stillness of the cabin, almost inaudible over the sush of the waves. He opens his eyes to violet light bleeding through the curtains, to Ed and Izzy facing each other, Ed running his hands over the planes of Izzy’s stomach. “And this one?” Ed asks, brushing his thumb over a puckered scar to the left of Izzy’s navel. “That one doesn't count.” Izzy tells him, his voice is breathy, no more than a whisper. Ed brushes the scar again and Izzy lets out an exhale that sounds more like a moan. “How did it happen?” Ed asks him, voice similarly low. “Fight with the Dutch Navy.” “Stupid thing to do, why did you fight the Dutch Navy Izzy?” It’s almost as if Ed is scolding him, admonishing him for bad behaviour, for a lapse in judgement. Izzy is quiet for a moment until Ed presses his thumb into the sensitive skin and causes Izzy to gasp out his answer. “Because you told me to.” Ed hums his approval, moves his hand to the scar that arcs under Izzy’s rib cage, long and thin, only really visible if Izzy were to stretch, to arch his back. He runs his fingers back and forth over the line, reverently. The action has a familiarity to it. Stede has watched Ed press his fingertips into the tattoo at Izzy’s cheek before and has worked out what it is and what it means without having to ask them but this, this, is something that is new to him. Even if for Ed and Izzy the script seems rehearsed, the routine well worn. “This one?” Ed asks again. “That one was you.” Izzy tells him. He shivers as Ed shifts his hand, replaces the brush of fingers with the scratch of nails, traces a raw red line under the scar. “Why would I do a thing like that?” “I think you were jealous.” “Jealous of who?” Izzy laughs, a short chuckle, a punch of air from his lungs, “The Dutch Navy.” Stede feels a lump grow in his throat. He pictures Ed above Izzy, knife in hand, the bite of the blade. If a knife is sharp enough it will slide through skin like butter, Izzy’s scar is precise and surgical, no puckering where the skin has torn and snagged. Stede pictures him pliant and still. The line doesn’t deviate off its course once, he must have held himself against the pain to keep it perfect. Ed presses his palm against Izzy’s abdomen, his fingers splayed up towards his heart, he drags his nails across Izzy’s skin and this time Izzy does moan. “God I could gut you like a fish.” Ed tells him, “lying here like this, all soft-bellied.” He flexes his fingers against Izzy’s rib cage, pressing in till bone creaks. “You’d upset Bonnet.” Izzy says, stock still, no reaction to Ed’s movements, no attempt to pull away, “ruin his fancy sheets.” It would upset Bonnet, Stede thinks, though he’s offended that they think his primary concern would be his soft furnishings and not the dead man in his bed, the love affair cut short with brutal efficiency. Ed digs his nails in again. “I’d do it clean, just open you up a bit, show him how soft you are on the inside. Or I could give him your heart, he likes romantic gestures like that.” “Yeah.” Izzy agrees, his breath coming out in a gasp. Stede tracks his eyes down his body to see that he’s hard, leaking pre-come at the thought of being carved open. Stede feels his own cock twist and nearly chokes with the shame. Ed notices too, changes tactics, moves his fingers to scrape his nails down the underside of Izzy’s cock. Izzy whimpers. “You’ll wake him up.” Izzy protests, even as he cants his hips forward into the touch. “Oh,” Ed laughs. “He’s been awake for ages.” He rolls over suddenly so he’s facing Stede, grin plastered across his face and eyes dark. “Morning babe, you happy to just watch the show, or do you want to join in?”

"Oh," Stede huffs in surprise, his eyes going a little wide as he looks down to where a small knife is sticking out of him, although he is not nearly in so much shock as Lucius, whose hand still gripping the hilt of the weapon. "Oh my god…" Lucius gasps, letting go of the knife and stepping back as though he is the one who was stabbed, "I didn't…" "It's quite alright," Stede assures, taking moment to assess the puncture. "Got me on the left. No harm done," he continues, "Probably should have announced myself. You are a bit… jumpy." The shock fades from Lucius’s face fairly quickly then, his lips pursing in a displeased frown. "Can't imagine why, not like I'm on a pirate ship with anyone who has ever nearly killed me or anything." Stede nods, frowning in turn. He doesn't think it can be any good for the boy, holding on to resentment towards Edward so tightly, but he also doesn't think this very moment is the right time to push the issue. "Right, well, I should probably have Roach take a look at this," he gestures to the wound and the blade still in it, "Are you going to be wanting it back?" "Yeah, actually," Lucius admits, just a tad gentler than before, "It's Pete's."

"You should grow it out," Izzy suggests, running the blade of his dagger beneath Edward's jawline, clearing away foamed soap and short, dark hairs almost as efficiently as a razor. "Yeah?" Ed asks, as soon as the blade isn't in a spot where it will sink into the flesh when his jaw moves, "Think I'd look good with a beard?" Izzy nods, going in for another short pass at Ed's cheek, cleaning up the edge but leaving the bulk of Ed's stubble intact in case he wants to take Izzy's advice sooner rather than later. "Powerful, if it comes in thick," he answers, "Would show you're not stupid enough to trust anyone getting this close to you with a blade at least." "I am that stupid though, considering I've got you in my damn lap shaving my face," Ed points out, his eyes narrowing. "The men don't need to know that," Izzy grumbles, glancing away briefly. "Could make a show of how well I've got you under my thumb instead? Make you shave me every morning up on deck in front of all of them, let them see that you wouldn't draw a single drop of blood unless I told you to, show off your steady hand?" Ed muses. Izzy rolls his eyes and makes to run his blade along Ed's other cheek, but Ed's smile quirks up, and he reacts just quickly enough to avoid drawing any blood, his own cheeks heating as he proves Ed's point.

I was gonna say “Who on The Revenge?” but I think the answer is Everyone on The Revenge.
