You can hate the CIA and MI6 all you want. But you really can’t hate a plan where the CIA, MI6, HK police, HK triad, movie stars, pop stars, ordinary people all worked together to smuggle survivors of the Tiananmen massacre out of China

Two immigrants top relevant Sunday Times list for most UK tax paid, as "patriot" multi-billionaire Ratcliffe lives as an immigrant in Monaco, to protect wealth so vast it is unspendable, while whining about immigrant UK care workers and NHS cleaners not pulling their weight.

FUCK RIGHT OFF, "SIR".
Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah among Britain's biggest taxpayers on Sunday Times list
Erling Haaland was Britain's highest taxed footballer last year, paying nearly £17 million to the Treasury.

A new report out today by Unseen, a leading charity which manages the modern slavery helpline, has found that immigration laws brought in since 2022 have helped trafficking thrive.

The changes have contributed to a "culture of disbelief" in victims.

"we live in a world … that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power. These are the iron laws of the world". (Stephen Miller, White House deputy Chief of Staff).

This is what that world looks like.

The history of freedom is the struggle to constrain power by law

Is it really that much of a shock that ICE agents shot a legal observer who was attempting to drive away, as shown by video evidence? Is it really surprising that the victim is painted as the villain? This is what happens when you give racist thugs the power of the state.

First I thought of the colectivos in Venezuela, then I realised this is a very American tradition: the posses, the Tulsa massacre and (the now Government-sanctioned) Jan 6
Masked ICE agents, it seems, are now killing American citizens on American streets.

Any Democrat who doesn’t support abolishing ICE should be instantly primaried and run out of the party.

This is non negotiable. You cannot support the continued existence of this fascist murderous secret police.

Absolutely horrific details about an ICE shooting in Minneapolis.

A witness says a woman was trying to drive away from an ICE operation and the ICE agent "reached across the hood of the car and shot her in the face like three, four times."

Bovino was there.

Like with christianity, their relationship to western culture is instrumental rather than substantive. It's just a tool to harm others with.

- lost classical texts were mainly lost because people stopped writing them down, not destroyed on purpose (and a huge amount of the classical texts we still have came to us via the Islamic world)
- Romans, even the imperial elite, weren't all "white" and would find modern ideas about race v weird

Here’s a fun top five: things that are consensus among historians but are essentially unknown by the public. Richard I, a bad king of England. Roman Empire, fell in 1453. Paul, more important than Jesus. Witch burning, a modern phenomenon not a medieval one. Britain last invaded in 1688. Yours?
As someone who wrote a dissertation on that damnable Frenchman; one can only hope.

It’s the thing that proves the Clinton era ‘it’s the economy, stupid’ adage wrong. People in the U.K. have acted against their economic self interest on many occasions because of racism, xenophobia, and toxic rhetoric about migrants.

the trump administration is living inside a social media dreamworld where the US is literally all-powerful and can do anything it wants to anyone it wants, and the US media, rather than pointing out this is deranged madness, is trying to demonstrate its neutrality by dignifying the fantasy

So Peston failed to ask

"No British government has ever revoked permanent status retrospectively. has it"

"Has ANY government done this since Idi Amin?"

"So you want to deport most nurses who aren't citizens, simply because they don't earn enough money. Do you think that is fair play?"

What is the fucking point of journalism?
"Because those were not the conditions under which you came" is fine for commit a serious crime.

This is just a lie for: revoke past ILR to nurses

Peston says: "Sure, but that is not hundreds of thousands of people": again misinformed & misleading

It is all among 430k people not on £38k (!)
