Former lawyer, former teacher. Just kidding about the "former" part. There's no such thing as a "former" lawyer, and the desire to lecture lasts forever.

SOCIAL SECURITY RECIPIENTS -
Your benefits ARE still taxed. All the bill does is give you a higher senior standard deduction rate for 3 years for purposes of filing your tax return. It ends in 2028.
Read the bill. It does NOT eliminate taxes on your Social Security.

The funding pause orders "are actually the most lawless, brazen, unconstitutional actions that this administration has yet taken, and if sanctioned by a conservative Supreme Court, they would amount to a full disbanding of our system of government." From @ddayen.bsky.social:
Trump’s Most Lawless Action Yet
Pausing funds appropriated by Congress is a deliberate taunt to draw a legal challenge that the White House’s most radical architects think will give them unilateral spending power.

From one of my book interview subjects: "If you want to live, you have to be able to fight these battles. You have to have a level of literacy that is master’s degree or higher in public health or a legal background in order to navigate this. You have to get creative and look for back doors."
If you, or a family member, are seriously ill, you are stressed and exhausted. This is the point where America, unlike most other countries asks you to also be your own health care administrator. People intuitively regard this as unfair and enraging.

I'm intrigued by those cable panel participants who fret about our leaving Twitter and thus refusing to continue "engaging" and "conversing" with the "broader" online community. What is it about "Die, Libtard!" and "Cry harder!" that sounds like "engagement" or "conversation" to these people?

I will miss a couple of people I followed on Twitter/X, but not enough to stay on the site another minute. I deactivated today. I'm so happy to be here, where posts don't immediately result in a pack of maniacs wishing for your death and/or dismemberment!
