the dipshits in charge have a math problem, and it's not one that's going to get easier for them. they do not not have the bodies for this. focus on what you can actually control in the real world (there's plenty of that to go around!) and make sure people around you are doing the same. thx

A lot of words to basically say: OK, GOING TO THE PUB MIGHT NOT BE GOOD FOR YOUR WAISTLINE/SLEEP/WALLET but it might be really really good for your friendships, stress, connections and happiness. So it's actually healthy to go to the pub, you guys, and maybe we should all just do that a bit more

Been thinking a lot about how we are talking about health and society so I wrote down some thoughts about what happens when self-care replaces collective care, and why joy, connection, and shared spaces are as essential to a nation’s wellbeing as any diet

When “what’s good for us” stops meaning "us"
Wellness culture promises control and self-care — but what happens when it starts to hollow out our shared collective lives?

Given that apparently the Stranger Things finale was meh (idk, didn't watch it, just the scuttlebutt) and we're not that far removed from the disastrous GOT finale that retroactively made everyone have never cared about the show:

Anyway, if you missed this science write-up and you’re also looking for your second wind, it’s worth skimming it to make peace with yourself.

Scientists find humans age dramatically in two bursts – at 44, then 60
US findings suggesting ageing is not a slow and steady process could explain spikes in health issues at certain ages

it's so stupid that a game between two eliminated teams will decide who makes the NFL playoffs. clearly they need a better system: having 12 athletic directors with obvious conflicts of interest sit in cloaks in a fancy hotel ballroom and decide which teams get in (one must be Alabama)

Points scored in 2025 playoff games:

JMU 34
Ohio State 14

Time for a serious conversation about handing out these participation-trophy bids like candy. Bad TV. Safety issue. I just feel so bad for Ohio State. They should have their own junior tournament

For my last post of 2025, here's a look at a network of websites and social media accounts hawking #resistance- themed garments, frequently with slogans regarding U.S. National Parks.

As it turns out, the websites in question are likely operated from China.

I don't understand any rhyme or reason to the organization or provenance of the various tranches of Epstein Files, but they clearly contain tons of raw investigative materials of dubious reliability/value and—at the risk of being a huge buzzkill—we all should exercise some careful discernment
