Even concrete US interventions are unlikely to save Argentina's peso for long unless they go further than so far promised—though it might give Milei a rickety bridge through the October election without an embarrassing devaluation.

Promised US assistance appears aimed at helping keep Argentine peso's value within a specified range

On this day in 1987, #TheCure released "Just Like Heaven" as the third single from their seventh studio album, "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me"

#RobertSmith said he considers "Just Like Heaven" to be one of the band's strongest works, and called it "the best pop song the Cure have ever done".

Something similar happened to me today in my class in Madrid. Most of my undergrad business students were familiar with Charlie Kirk; I hadn´t heard of him before.

What happened is terrible, and we took the opportunity to reflect on how bad political violence is nowadays.

Did not realise how well known Charlie Kirk was amongst the youth until coming into school today. Amazing how you can miss things as you get older. Genuinely thought his death would not create a ripple over here but it was the talk of form time. #EduSky

Let’s not lose sight of the big picture. Appeasement won’t work. Instead of rushing to minimize short-term costs, we should stick to WTO principles and pursue a coordinated, proportional, multi-country retaliatory response against rule-breakers
kiel.institute
Simulations with the KITE Model show a joint response would raise US costs by 34% vs. no retaliation—reaching ~60% of the effect of a global reaction. In contrast, going it alone is less effective and riskier, esp. for integrated economies like 🇨🇦 & 🇲🇽 👇 @emanuelornelas.bsky.social @ckhead.bsky.social

The US is playing countries off against each other. A coalition of the 🇪🇺,🇨🇦,🇲🇽,🇧🇷 & 🇰🇷 could put real pressure on Washington with a joint response. They would have strong leverage against tariffs. Read more in the new KPB 👉 ifw-kiel.de/publications...
