SCOOP: The United States Tennis Association (USTA) quietly updated its player eligibility policy to ban trans women from competing as women in their leagues, tournaments and competitions in order to comply with Trump's anti-trans sports executive order. The policy went into effect on Monday.

One of the reasons I think it’s also essential to not call the boat strikes “war crimes” but “crimes against humanity,” is that it emphasizes that Trump and Hegseth are acting extra-constitutionally and are not entitled to any shield from the courts. This systematic murder of civilians is illegal.

In trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with Britain and why it fell so completely to the dumbest, 4chan-esque transphobia, what I keep coming back to is that unlike in the US, the UK's political and media elite is much more concentrated. A contagion will spread more quickly among them.

a lot of it genuinely comes down to the fact that almost all their elites were too online on X and the post-Musk thing has basically driven the socially conservative, fiscally socialist types insane (see e.g. the Blue Labour guy) and the right is basically now calling for ethnic purges

Two extremely niche museum/material culture questions:
1) If I'm mounting Anaglypta on some 1 ft square boards for texture exploration, do I *have* to shell out for clay or can I use regular wallpaper paste? Not sure if the clay spec is bc it's vinyl, bc it's embossed, or bc it's heavy on walls.
