The fuck is unfunded hobbyist research? My hobbies are millions of miles removed from the academy and if my research was of no interest to others, this would show in every aspect of my career. We have the REF for this, no? So what other than right wing talking points being echoed is this adding?

"My imaginary Attlee would never have done the thing that the real Attlee demonstrably, actually, did" is a very concise summary of the feckless, vacuous, delusional, reactionary shite that pours out of this idiot's gob.

🔴Glasman says Attlee and Bevan would “never have given the ECHR status in British law.”

🔴But Attlee signed and ratified the ECHR.

🔴Bevan fought for legal dignity, not executive impunity.

🔴Glasman is laundering authoritarianism with fake history.

Nationalisation of public services is incredibly popular with Reform voters with support as high as 90%. Labour could “appeal to Reform voters” by proposing such a policy, instead they turn up the dial marked RACISM, which is a choice as Labour is a racist party.

Yet another poll
shows massive support
for public ownership

So what stops the government?

The fact that almost every Labour MP
has accepted corrupt bribes
from privatising lobbyists

and doesn't give a sh*t
that we get a worse service
at extra cost
and die younger

This makes you angry, cos it's a reannouncement of a load of stupid ideas cooked up by the Home Office, a dept so hard of thinking it can barely keep its doors open. But it's also richly (if darkly) comic, because it will increase gaming, degrade stats and achieve exactly the opposite of its intent.

I would almost put money on this requiring a referral to the Supreme Court and a nonsensical preliminary reference so that they can be informed about primacy and disapplication, again when the High Court is unsure of what to do with the CoA decision
oscharles.bsky.social
The Court of Appeals should not have heard the action with a preliminary reference pending - but the Superior Courts are often quite poor on the fundamentals of EU law

Interesting to see these arise in the space of a few days

Apparently the UK adult verification thing has basically banned blind people from half of the internet because they can't use the verification system 🫣

See, this answer seems catastrophically bad and cack-handed if you’re a disillusioned Labour voter or (god forbid) further left. But if you’re an executive at, say, Serco, G4S or Mitie, and want to know the status quo will hold and your contracts will be renewed with minimal hassle, it’s beautiful.

"LGBT" is not unsafe or inappropriate for minors. It is what a minority of them will be. Censoring it for anyone who can't pass an age verification check suggests that queer people are dangerous predators. It also stops queer kids from being able to find community. This is an online s28. End it.

I looked more into this episode, and the majority of these participants are influencers. They are openly & brazenly racist, antisemitic etc.

They are using this to gain a mainstream audience by being boosted by both Jubilee and Zeteo. This is how the left often helps mainstream the far right.

Thanks @lbc.co.uk for publishing my article on the Universal Credit & PIP Bill:
- Why it still poses an unacceptable threat to disabled people in the future
- MPs still being asked to vote without clear information about the full impact of planned changes. www.lbc.co.uk/opinion/view...
Concessions have been made – but the Welfare Bill still risks long-term harm to disabled people
The concessions offered by the UK government to stave off a rebellion in their ranks are welcome, but fall short.

This is the one and only good thing that George W Bush did as president. It has saved millions of lives at very little cost. Why pause it—for a period long enough to cause major damage and death? Because you want (those) people to die.
