Steve Levitsky does a great job explaining the authoritarian turn in the US here. Do give it a listen! 👂
Harvard professor offers a grim assessment of American democracy under Trump
Steven Levitsky studies how healthy democracies can slip into authoritarianism. He says the Trump administration has already done grave damage: "We are no longer living in a democratic regime."

These mega corps are the reason America is struggling.

$278,000,000,000 in avoided tax.

Not the poor.
Not immigrants.
Not workers.

US Envoys arrived today and are pleading with our leaders to refrain from imposing retaliatory tariffs. We initially denied their pleas until their ambassador returned wearing a suit and thanked us for existing.

Setting tariffs is not some presidential power set out in US constitution.

Congress has delegated this power to Trump, and Congress can take it back.

This ultimately is about Congressional weakness as about Presidential madness.

This problem has a constitutional solution, if Congress wants it.

The clearest formulation of the Trump administration pitch to the average American I can articulate is:

"You should accept an indeterminate but significant amount of economic pain short term, and higher prices and less choice long term, in order to live in a country that has more factories in it."
a 'your possessions and money don't actually matter' approach is sure to work with Americans, a public notoriously amenable to sacrificing for the greater good, as Jimmy Carter's second term attests.

Hi David,
If the Letby case turns out to be a MOJ, what are the similarities, and differences, with the PO postmasters' cases?

I'm struck by the fact that there were 900+ postmaster cases, and not even one jury managed to reach the correct decision - acquittal.
