I hope every departing Spirit player sees the love our fans pour out for players like Sam Staab, Paige Nielsen, & Anna Heilferty long after they've moved to a new team.

Player movement is a bittersweet part of the game. We don't like to see anyone go, but we really do want them to thrive elsewhere.

Courtney Brown often contributed in ways you wouldn’t know by the box score

For example, this stellar defensive play to keep the Spirit on the attack & then the perfect cross to Croix leading to Trin’s epic goal against Portland

Best of luck to CB in Utah #ThatsTheSpirit @heyspirits.bsky.social

I did follow up with comms on Brown leaving the spirit.

The Spirit and Courtney Brown agreed to a mutual contract termination prior to her signing with the Utah Royals.

Stop thinking about tech fascism in terms of individual famous people like Elon Musk and Peter Thiel.

Think of it as an organism. This isn't about personalities. Personalities are boring comparing to fully seeing this system and feeling it in your skin, what they are going to do before they do it.

Billionaires are considering cutting or reducing their ties to California by the end of the year because of a proposed ballot measure that could tax the state’s wealthiest residents.
A Wealth Tax Floated in California Has Billionaires Thinking of Leaving
It’s uncertain whether the proposal will reach the statewide ballot in November, but some billionaires like Peter Thiel and Larry Page may be unwilling to take the risk.

It’s a public service, right there in the name. It exists as a public good for all the people in this country. It’s not supposed to turn a profit, you dolts.

Go audit the Pentagon and see what kind of return on investment we’re getting there.

So, if you’re an NWSL GM, you are not allowed to decide yourself — using all of the tools of a pro team’s front office — that a Player has a High-enough Impact to warrant a certain salary. But you *are* allowed to vote on a list that would determine that that Player has a High-enough Impact.

Sure.
The ESPN FC top 50 is here and we need to talk about the sudden conflict of interest the league has created with the high-impact player rule.

With coaches and GMs weighing in on these lists, they can influence whether or not their players can get a bag.

High impact player rule - the player should have at least one million Instagram followers, be lactose intolerant, score at least 1100 on the SATs, have a 4.7 Uber rating, and their favorite color should be blue.

Heard buzz over 2025 that the league, owners, and possibly CSOs were all feeling that player power had gone too far in NWSL, and can't help but think today's HIP announcement is linked.

Doesn't seem to have gone over well!
