And we also already know that these efforts have been in motion for years, and that sex workers, LGBTQ people, feminists, educators, and anyone who talks about bodies, women, and gender/sexuality is already being censored online and offline

And we don’t have to guess what they mean, because we can read Project 2025 ourselves and see that “pornography” is shorthand for LGBTQ people existing publicly. That’s what they’re working to ban, censor, and restrict online under the guise of “protecting” kids from porn

Even if you don’t like “pornography” or think kids shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near “pornography,” consider that the people with power to legislate what that MEANS have a very different definition than you do

When a sitting representative refers to the Super Bowl halftime show as “pornography,” people should use that to reflect on how they and other representatives are simultaneously working to ban, censor, and restrict “pornography” and what that actually means

“Four of my children just evaporated,” Badran said, holding back tears. “I looked for them a million times. Not a piece was left. Where did they go?”

There are no words to adequately describe the evil here.

US-made thermal weapons burning at 3,500C caused 2,842 people to "evaporate" in Gaza, Al Jazeera investigation finds.

bad people can and often do make good art. attacking the art as retroactively subpar to free yourself of moral dilemma and give yourself permission to not care means you're innately equating quality of art as representative of moral virtue (it's not) which is how you get purity culture

very excited to have my response included in the latest Boston Review forum against Democratic moderation! here it is, my best argument for why Dems shouldn't "moderate" on transgender rights & LGBTQ issues more generally (as they are inextricably linked): www.bostonreview.net/forum/how-no...
Trans rights aren’t tanking the Democrats.

Minneapolis has seen a stunning 1,646% spike in calls from families who can't pay rent because they're afraid to leave their homes to work.

This is state violence manufacturing housing precarity in real time.

People should not be facing eviction when their city is under occupation.

yes. the craziest and most annoying trans people, just like the craziest and most annoying people in any group, are always going to get the most attention. The idea that this explains our current predicament says more about your distaste for certain voices than it does about what's really going on.
...which is why I smh when I hear trans ppl blame the anti-trans backlash on “activists gone too far” or on a subset of trans ppl who were too “angry” online, because THIS IS A DOUBLE BIND WE CAN NEVER WIN! cis ppl will *always* blame us no matter what we do...

They have rushed it to the Senate for passage.

If it passes, the most extreme anti-trans bill in the nation is about to be sent to the Governor's desk.

The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Painted in 1899, Félix Vallotton’s portrait is of his wife Gabrielle Rodrigues-Henriques (née Bernheim as in the art gallery Bernheim-Jeune). The couple married in May of that year, triggering a complete shift in Vallotton's working, out went printmaking and in came painting.

once again i am asking literally anyone in a position of power to do literally anything so that our neighbors stop getting fucking murdered in the street

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
