Made good use of my insomnia last night- Mateo & I finally migrated over here. Started finding some of my dog & hiking peeps- hopefully will find more of my old travel folks.

It's time once again for my annual #treebybike post. This is the 12/19/42 cover of @newyorker.com, so one full year after the attack on Pearl Harbor. This would be the first real Christmas alone, or without a family member, for millions in the US. Gas and tire rationing had begun earlier that year.🗃️

Mateo is quite the helper with laundry
A blond cocker spaniel is lying on the bed while human tries to strip the bed. The headboard and mattress pad show at the top. The dog is lying on the quilt and has been covered by the half-removed fitted sheet which covers his head so only one eye, both ears and front paws show. He doesn’t care and isn’t moving.

Agents in Key Largo, Florida ripped this woman wearing medical scrubs out of her car as she screamed she is a US citizen. Agents cuffed her and put her in one of their cars.

She was eventually let go, per David Goodhue of the Miami Herald, who also took this footage:

I blame lots of seasick meds, but I miscounted when I posted yesterday- Dry Tortugas was my 4th nat’l park this year!

A river that I absolutely loved and want to revisit is the Soca river, Slovenia. Beautiful green water, rapids, forests - it was everything! Some of our favourite forests are in New Zealand. This is a view from the famous Routeburn Track on the south island. Ying with her grandparents and younger brother. My grandmother with Ying, me, and my younger brother.
