Woke and in favour of a functioning NHS and criminal justice system, benefits for the less fortunate, decency and honesty. So delighted to have got rid of the Tories #FBPE

For anyone who wonders about my lovely banner photo, I took it at the Picasso museum in France - it's in a chapel and is entitled "War and Peace"

As Justice Kagan begins her dissent by pointing out, what is even the point of trial, of fact-finding, of clear error, of standards of review, when the Supreme Court simply ignores every single part of that and decides everything purely on the papers without any real consideration of the facts?

Nearly fell for this - fuck all scammers. And how is this possible to exist on Google.

I'm now announcing a fundamental principle in life, to be known forever after as the Bain Principle.

90 percent of hassle is caused by 10 percent of people.

True in business life, politics, family, anywhere.

Am I wrong?

The messages here on xitter are an abomination.
I suspect every one of these accounts would be removed by BlueSky in short order.
Time for UK gov to withdraw all Comms from X and promote BlueSky?
🚨 New Block of the Month, same ugly messages.

Only a fraction of the racism and abuse I receive.

Stand up to racism. Join me in the fight! #ButlerBlocks

It's all so supine and pathologically risk averse. A government trying to survive day to day, too scared to take the kindness of big decisive action which would repair the country and win an election. An unbelievable wasted opportunity.

I created our monthly pub quiz for this evening. As an experiment, I asked ChatGTP to suggest 60 questions about 2025.
The results were so depressing and lacking in any fun or soul that I ended up using just one of them.

I didn't think we would be voting tactically against the Tories, Reform AND Labour in the next general election.

There was a moment when I heard that the Home Sec was making a major announcement when I imagined it might be a proposal to explain the benefits of legal migration, create safe routes for asylum seekers, and rubbish the right's media rhetoric.
But no, this admin is incapable of setting the agenda

Unbelievable pub conversation earlier where a woman said she believed Hilary Clinton was a paedophile, and Trump is a saviour.
Asked where she's getting her information.
"Reliable podcasts".
How can this be?

Here's "Trump'll Nail Ya" - a song about the #BBC legal crisis (set to the tune of the shanty "Drunken Sailor") which created a big internal debate about what's a gremlin and what's a mogwai. 🎶⚓️

... fingers crossed for an apology but not a daft and unnecessary settlement ...

I suspect Trump will not be directly implicated of paedophilia by the #epsteinfiles
The jeopardy is that he has protected others, and is revealed as a useful idiot in Epstein's trafficking, Russian and others' networks.
He is too vain to allow his idiocy to be exposed, and dependant on the guilty

And at least he's never influenced news output unlike, say, Gary Lineker 🤣
Well at least he was never political

The potential damage to the BBC's reputation as an honest and impartial reporter of news has already been undermined by political influence on senior appointments.
It is time for the current Gov to remove all future govs from influence, and ensure a true global presenter of reliable information.
If I was the board of the BBC, I would announce we were immediately suing Donald Trump for reputational damage following truthful reporting that he lied was untrue.

Didn't really know much about Mark when I encountered him in the early days of BlueSky, but he is a magnificent follow who picks up news from everywhere.
My first ever substack subscription (not required for reading), and reading this I am proud to be a supporter.
We need journalists like Mark. 👏👏👏

People will mock this. But something to note:

When Remembrance Day was introduced, this is EXACTLY what many British WW1 veterans did on it.

They would meet up with old friends and colleagues from their units. Talk. Laugh. Cry. Toast those not there and get joyously, and utterly shitfaced. /1

I must be pissed - just upgraded to a paid sub.

What a fascinating watch! Thanks Terry!
This video had some things that quite surprised me about how plays were done in Shakespeare's times.

It's an interesting watch.
