Like, yes, I'm glad this senator is raising awareness. But that's not enough on its own. And awareness raising is generally what members of the public do to get elected officials to act. You can't really reverse the roles here.

Received this video from a former staffer of mine. It’s a leaking pipeline in the Permian Basin. They called the Carlsbad field office and no one picked up, so it can’t be reported or followed up on.

The cost of the shutdown will be felt for decades.

Police violence is part of our national fabric. You will not find us diminishing that. It's hard to believe any cops could be worse than a department who ran a torture black site. But DHS is entirely unleashed and unaccountable. They will kill more people by the end of this month if not stopped.

Well, yeah, we're suing ICE.

This wasn't really a hard decision. As little faith as we have in institutions, we recognize the value of drawing visible lines in the sand. We drew ours personally a while ago, but better late than never.

May every protester be freed and may this occupation end.

I guess I'm a hypocrite since two means of birth control are mentioned in my wip (which isn't a romance, anyway) - an herb with various magical properties, and the rhythm method. The first has plot/thematic relevance, the second I threw in because of an archaeology paper that I thought was neat.

More than once, I've seen people criticize romance for not mentioning birth control, which apparently feels unrealistic in the story of a powerful man whose wild heart is tamed by the self-insert heroine. In my foray into romantasy, I've seen noticed ACOTAR and Fourth Wing mention contraception...1/

At least in ACOTAR it was part of the world building. The heroine's lover in the beginning of the story is a rich guy who can afford the expensive potion. In Fourth Wing it's mentioned in the middle of the first love scene! "I take the fertility suppressant." "Same." Ugh!
