Because Americans don't believe themselves to be followers. They SAY they're patriotic but they also don't like taking orders. A lot of them might hate all kinds of people but they hate their boss a little bit more. The GOP doesn't have a narrative that works when they're in power.

Maybe if they had a Leni Riefenstahl they'd have it sewn up, but they don't. The closest they have is Eastwood and even he doesn't seem to have a taste for their particular brand of conservatism. They've confused mass media (which you can bully and buy) with mass culture, and they're hitting a myth.

It's a sign of disrespect. They aren't the majority but they're trying to post their way into it and it...isn't working. The NFL, for all its faults, follows the money. Last year it was Kendrick, this year its Bad Bunny. They thought they'd rolled up media but the big money continues to be brown.

It’s the natural outgrowth of people being worked up about “aggressive panhandling.” Palestinian accounts were mostly looking for money to survive so they got called scammers and were treated as a nuisance like the unhoused. Palestinians aren’t users to them anymore than the unhoused are neighbors.
