Please signal boost, it's for a good cause! 🙏

Hey folks - I'm working with an MS (multiple sclerosis) charity to find streamers to support fundraising in November. It's retro gaming themed, so if you're interested in more info - or you know someone who would be amazing - please chuck me a reply 💚

Oct 8th 1984 - After catching their first ghost at the Sedgewick Hotel, business quickly picks up for the Ghostbusters with more paranormal sightings. On Oct 8th they were featured on the front page of USA Today.

📽️📅 Ghostbusters (1984)
3 Screenshots from the movie "Ghostbusters" (1984): First, the Ghostbusters, wearing their iconic uniforms with proton packs, stand in a lavish hotel interior, engaging in a serious discussion with a man in a suit. Second, a woman with curly hair sits in a living room, watching a news broadcast about the Ghostbusters on an old-fashioned TV, with a cityscape visible through the window blinds. Third, a newspaper headline "Ghost Fever Grips New York" features an image of the Ghostbusters team.

As today is World Octopus Day I’ll again mention that a Spanish equivalent to “like a fish out of water” is como un pulpo en un garaje. It means “like an octopus in a garage.”

Great piece: "Anything can be rejected, and for any reason, and there is pretty much nothing you can do about it. Certain rationales for rejection are forever beyond your control."

Yes! I have to send out a lot of rejections and there are So Many reasons, and none of them are personal. Keep going!

Random shout out:
"The Old Lady" by Eleanor Scott (vintage tale on Pseudopod: 1929) read by writer/ed/VOA Kat Day; a fun tale managing to be very traditional (old manor house, Oxford students, creepy families) w/ some freshness. Some, I think, via the female POV. 1/5

Adela Young must have come up to Oxford at the same time as myself; but no one, in a way, knew that she had. She was one of those people whom one never notices, physically or mentally – the kind of…

Today is #EdgarAllanPoe’s death day. #Poe is one of my greatest influences and favorite writers. My #shortstory, The Vibrations Louder,
A modern retelling of Poe’s #TheTelltaleHeart was published in @pseudopod.org a few months back.
Give it a #read or a #listen.

Insanity? Sure, why not. My lawyer advised me to plead insanity, and maybe it will help me. At least I’ll be able to talk to somebody qualified. The state of mental health care is deplorable in this…

Hired some local muscle to enforce the "no soliciting" rule.
A big fucking orb weaver with a web spun across the upper left quadrant of a front door entryway. A sign on the door says, "no soliciting."

Same. But honestly, anything Ai-generated is likely to be rejected just purely on the basis that it’s *mundane*. These LLMs don’t produce anything original or interesting. They can’t. Only humans do that. Use your delightful terrible human brain.

Please know that at BCS, it's hugely important to us to not have 'false positives'. We don't treat subs or submittors as AI unless we're sure. We're not looking at em-dashes or key words. We're doubly careful with English as Second Language subs. Any sub we're not sure if it's AI, we treat as human.
gothydellamorte.bsky.social
My only fear with this is being accused when I use no AI but do use stuff like m dashes that are frequently marked AS AI but I think people who make their jobs writing will probably be better equipped than most.
