Today, I would like to honor the memory of Roger Y. Tsien, who died on August 24, 2016. His legacy lives with all who use his technologies, including calcium sensors, fluorescent proteins, the acetoxymethyl (AM) ester, & many more! #FluorescenceFriday

Good luck! I’ve had a similar thing happened to me and in the end FedEx was not helpful. Only the sales rep was.
pskcellbio.bsky.social
Very frustrating! I hope that the sales rep will make this right for you.

What do you see when you stare at this grid of line segments: a series of rectangles, or a series of circles?

The way you perceive this optical illusion may tie back to the visual environment that surrounds you, a recent preprint suggests. scim.ag/4kTxbmd
Culture literally changes how we see the world
Where city dwellers see rectangles, people who live in round huts see circles

Gave a talk at my parents’ retirement community to describe how science is done, and what is at stake. There was a ton of interest, and anyone can do this. Get the word out about how science affects everyone. I’m happy to share slides with anyone who asks- just get in touch! youtu.be/BY_SFgi-Cig

Happy Golgi Day, Ishier! Now I expect to celebrate yearly :)

Happy Golgi Day!!
I’m celebrating in the lab!

On April 19, 1898, Camillo Golgi described what we now know as the #Golgi apparatus - a structure so pretty and unusual it took over fifty years for the scientific community to agree it wasn’t just an artefact.
April 19 is #GolgiDay! Mark your calendars to honour the best organelle.

This is a well written spotlight piece by Xin Xiang @xianglab.bsky.social highlighting a new discovery by Aquino et al in McNally lab. It describes a novel mechanism by which the kinesin-1-driven inward organelle packing pushes the spindle out towards the cortex. Interesting mechanism and biology!
