This is distinct from rich people hating "the poor," that's a constant; now, like pre-modern aristocrats, they seem to hate the very idea of useful work, of any transaction that doesn't involve them getting money just because.

UK has a bunch of problems.

Migration is a politically unpopular way to address many of them.

The UK government wants everyone to throw them a nice little flag shaggy parade for choosing not to use it - while doing nothing else to fix the problems.
