The petition to oppose ID cards has already topped a million and it's going up by around 1,000 every minute. petition.parliament.uk/petitions/73... - ID cards were an unpopular idea under Tony Blair's government and they are just as unpopular now.

It's good to see almost universal condemnation for the Digital ID card proposal.
All of the arguments from the last No2ID campaign are still valid. Immigrants and trans people are a lot more vulnerable now.

News programs - when you interview someone - please keep their names on the screen the entire time so that when you hear something outrageous and glance at the screen there is an answer to the question "Who is this spouting this nonsense?"

Today's project was to re-program the e-ink display in the kitchen to show stats from Home Assistant instead of from the old RasPi monitor. The advantage is that it now displays the amount of energy being exported so that we can tell if it's a good time to put the dishwasher on or boil the kettle.

the way the right has boiled discussion on transness by saying trans women will always be “biological males” is despicable because taking cross hormone therapy literally changes your biological birth sex. your sex and sex functions is no longer the same after taking hormones for an extended time

This is what it comes down to in terms of how we actually function in society: not “what is a woman?”, but “how do you know I’m a woman?” Nobody has ever asked to inspect my gametes or chromosomes. Presentation is literally all anyone is going on.
I mean I’m a fairly femme cis woman but I don’t carry any ID on me that shows my gender. How could I *prove* I am a woman, if I had to, in a way that isn’t just “well she looks like a girl, fair enough”?
