When we say early, are we talking Unreal 4 build or after they'd gotten a publisher? I do think the time frame matters as I think opinions around GenAI really altered like 3 years ago. That's about when I learned better.

Healthcare is still a problem for expenses, too. My "very good" state health program still had me coming out of pocket like 7 grand for my kid's birth. Kinda an outrageous thing no one prepares you for.

Nah. The point is American conservatism, at its core, has always been reactionary against social changes that have seen the uplifting of marginalized groups. All the way from Buckley to now. Intellectual conservatism was simply found recently to be an unnecessary facade.

Ultimately, while there are always going to be some points of continuity between events, people who try to link Trump to Bush and Reagan, arguing he’s an obvious continuation or progression of bad conservative presidents, are engaged in another, slightly more sophisticated form of normalizing Trump

Yeah, feels like "Your elected representatives are not doing their job" should be the bipartisan framing. Putting in those terms is relatable; everyone knows what it's like to work with slackers, and the idea you're paying these people to do nothing should resonate.

Genuine question: is it some sort of regional take from the north or a socioeconomic one that the military is for conservatives only? I'm friends with former marines that are almost as lefty as I am. The distinction isn't as stark as a lot of people just yesterday have been making it.

Look, military officers are not progressives by any stretch, but they do believe in policies that make an effective fighting force. They won't speak publicly about it, but they've served with diverse people, and they'll 100% clock treasonous rhetoric from Trump.

I wish I could be confident that the vast majority of military brass in that room were angry and horrified, but I don't know anymore, the man was reelected with a lot of military votes.

Have an army colonel in my family and in general, top brass are focused on a multilateral fighting force in the most logistical of terms. Bigotry and "warrior ethos" bullshit doesn't go over well with most of those people bc it's actively harmful to that core mission. This is research-based.

I think a lot of people were surprised by how not-conservative Milley ended up being. My sense from my time in service is that he's pretty typical for a general.

The military is by no means a perfect meritocracy, but it has enough fillers that it is hard to get promoted as an idiot or lunatic.
