When we say early, are we talking Unreal 4 build or after they'd gotten a publisher? I do think the time frame matters as I think opinions around GenAI really altered like 3 years ago. That's about when I learned better.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Keep seeing that pop up and still haven't found an actual video 😭

Healthcare is still a problem for expenses, too. My "very good" state health program still had me coming out of pocket like 7 grand for my kid's birth. Kinda an outrageous thing no one prepares you for.

Warm take: I think this is pretty fair monetization.

I swear these people just figured out how to adopt the online troll edgelord persona into an entire modus operandi.

Will insists that saying this is a form of normalizing Trump. I say insisting otherwise is, in fact, absolving conservatives of responsibility.
pursuedbyabomb.bsky.social
Nah. The point is American conservatism, at its core, has always been reactionary against social changes that have seen the uplifting of marginalized groups. All the way from Buckley to now. Intellectual conservatism was simply found recently to be an unnecessary facade.
whstancil.bsky.social
Ultimately, while there are always going to be some points of continuity between events, people who try to link Trump to Bush and Reagan, arguing he’s an obvious continuation or progression of bad conservative presidents, are engaged in another, slightly more sophisticated form of normalizing Trump

I love checking Bsky and all the posts are like "THIS IS SO FUCKED UP" but I got here so late I can't figure out what everyone's mad about! 😭😭😭

I refuse to believe anyone with this sort of batting average on nauseating takes is doing so accidentally.

Likely that Dems are scared of that line of argument for themselves, too, though.
pursuedbyabomb.bsky.social
Yeah, feels like "Your elected representatives are not doing their job" should be the bipartisan framing. Putting in those terms is relatable; everyone knows what it's like to work with slackers, and the idea you're paying these people to do nothing should resonate.

Genuine question: is it some sort of regional take from the north or a socioeconomic one that the military is for conservatives only? I'm friends with former marines that are almost as lefty as I am. The distinction isn't as stark as a lot of people just yesterday have been making it.

INTERVIEWER: As you know, we are a nation beset by myriad horrors. What are you doing to fight back?
SCHUMER: I have been reaching out to the horrors, many of which are friends, in hopes of working together on this for all Americans. You demand we descend into hell? Well ok, but let's do it right.
pursuedbyabomb.bsky.social
Look, military officers are not progressives by any stretch, but they do believe in policies that make an effective fighting force. They won't speak publicly about it, but they've served with diverse people, and they'll 100% clock treasonous rhetoric from Trump.

I wish I could be confident that the vast majority of military brass in that room were angry and horrified, but I don't know anymore, the man was reelected with a lot of military votes.

the president of the united states wants to use the american military to kill american citizens on american soil. that's the whole story!
pursuedbyabomb.bsky.social
Have an army colonel in my family and in general, top brass are focused on a multilateral fighting force in the most logistical of terms. Bigotry and "warrior ethos" bullshit doesn't go over well with most of those people bc it's actively harmful to that core mission. This is research-based.

I think a lot of people were surprised by how not-conservative Milley ended up being. My sense from my time in service is that he's pretty typical for a general.

The military is by no means a perfect meritocracy, but it has enough fillers that it is hard to get promoted as an idiot or lunatic.

Not joking: give Taylor Sheridan his own network and just... so much money.

this is why what I'd do if a liberal billionaire willing to really play ball gave me the money to do so is flood the zone with content targeted towards right leaning people that was about literally anything but politics. both AI slop and actual content. attention is finite. operate to deny them it.
whstancil.bsky.social
And this is not happening because right-wing billionaires control all the social media platforms (though they do, and it's bad). It's happening because there are ten million content producers competing for audience share, and they earn it by telling audiences stuff they enjoy hearing.

I'm only about to see my best friend once every 6 months or so because we both have exactly one child, daycare is expensive, and we don't have time outside of our responsibilities.

the political policy cure for “male loneliness” is

- more time to hang with the fellas (4 day work week)

- more money to spend with the fellas (higher wages)

- more things to do with the fellas (taxing the rich and building 3rd spaces)
