The story of Anakin single-handedly destroying a Luchrehulk-class battleship as nine-year-old with no spaceflight experience was clearly post-facto mythmaking by a historian working during the Skywalker Dynasty
BORING: Assigning "levels of canon" to Star Wars media.

NOT BORING: Construing all Star Wars media as variously motivated propaganda which actually exists in some notional Star Wars universe, often only tenuously related to real events, and loudly speculating about what "really happened".

FT once again shows why it's the best

Honestly somewhat embarrassing that it took humans and our ancestors something like 400,000 years to go from reliably making fire to making ice cream for dogs

'It is the most exciting discovery in my 40-year career': Archaeologists uncover evidence that Neanderthals made fire 400,000 years ago in England
Archaeologists have found the earliest evidence yet of fire technology — and it was created by Neanderthals in England more than 400,000 years ago.

Okay, but the reason this is happening is that their market is almost exclusively China

Unless the CCP falls apart, we are not in an era where they will act as a normal buyer
So farmers need to either find a new market or a new crop, bc it's bad to let a few soyboys dictate national security policy
Caleb Ragland, president of the American Soybean Association, on Trump's farm bailout: "This is a band-aid on an open wound ... what we truly need are market-based solutions"

As much as I lean towards relatively unconstrained speech & an open internet, we have to figure out a way to minimize the flood of violent threats that any & every public figure receives now

Currently, given many recent events, recipients *have* to take them seriously, while the senders safely lol
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I sent those deaths threats directly to him in a text message & informed him of what his name calling & words were doing - it was a direct assassination threat on my son. And he was extremely - I won't repeat what he said - but it was extremely unkind. No sympathy. No care"

People misunderstand the poverty v precarity debate

If you're impoverished, you may have no choice but to remain in New York, the greatest city in the world
But if you're living precariously, you may be forced to spend a week in Hell on earth: the slopes of W Virginia or the beaches of Panama City

Pretty wild that Nvidia has more than 10X'd in five years thanks to the US tech sector, but they're willing to sell this country out to our biggest geopolitical rival for just a few more gains

(And also that our President is facilitating it in exchange for money & nice words)
