The great Slava Vakarchuk
“One of the most significant performances of my career,” — Sviatoslav Vakarchuk. On December 13, he performed at London’s St Pancras International in support of Okhmatdyt hospital in Kharkiv. The concert became the largest in the venue’s history.

It’s possible that they didn’t think of this and also possible that they did and want it to happen or don’t care. The one foreign policy issue these people claimed to care about was communist China but they have essentially given up — it’s all too hard for them.
so a thing just occurred to me. a downside of declaring a blockade against venezuela is it makes it easier for other large powers in different parts of the world, say asia, to blockade, say for instance democratic islands, and cloak it as lawful

This catches something really important. The risk
is less that this crew changes the regime and more that while trying to do so they cash out the whole thing. Which is one more powerful reason why resistance is patriotic.

Another beautiful Shchedryk performance amidst ruins.

It was set in what used to be a DTEK thermal power plant — now destroyed by russia.

The contrast between russia’s destructive nature and the Ukrainian will to create beauty even in the darkest times is palpable.

The freeze-up in the Hudson Bay (Canada) has been one of the latest on record for #Arctic sea ice. This is consistent with the long-term trend of a lengthening open water season.

Check out the anomalous warmth across the #Arctic and #Antarctic over the last three months. And actually, all latitude bands averaged unusually warm too.

Plot shows zonal-mean temperature anomalies, where latitude = y-axis (not scaled by distance). GISTEMPv4 data using their 1951-1980 baseline.

Of course @jburnmurdoch.ft.com remains excellent, but the conflation of degrowth with hard left in this piece does no-one any favours.

There's plenty of evidence that in terms of climate headroom and ecological quality we *do* live in a zero sum world.
This by the excellent @jburnmurdoch.ft.com confirms my view that political trends are being driven by the halting of the upward economic conveyor belt - striking charts: www.ft.com/content/30a4... Welcome to the age of zero-sum politics
