I cannot stress this enough, and I am tired of saying it: British white people, everything you are seeing in the US is coming here and you cannot watch Eurovision or Great British Bakeoff or sign petitions and think you can stiff-upper-lip or ignore your way out of this.

Learn to be UNCOMFORTABLE.

Apparently the feds have merch now and I just...what do I do with this information?

It was a "you want to see someone shred as if his hands and spirit were on another plane to his body? HUN! This will be like you hearing Primus the first time, just BASK in this" kinda day.

I won friends!! 😭❤️ I was acknowledged as one of the games industry leading women with the Aurora Award at Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki!

It’s hard to put in words how much it means to me being amongst these honorees.

Giving praise and thanks at the state of our pantry and freezer right now: I just put a large ziplock full of collard greens blanched and rolled up in the freezer, small winter squash in the pantry, stocked to the gills with ingredients to make every kind of soup imaginable for a while.

Let's go.

For the morning crowd: I'm one of the federal workers affected by the shutdown. I'm the sole earner of my family rn and have no idea when I'll get paid again.

Since I'm going to be broke as a joke for a little while, I'd love to get some work. I'd love to do covers but I do fantasy maps and pinups too. Or if you just want to help out, here's how:

Storm from the X-men in a night sky with a lightning bolt striking her outstretched right hand. The Marvel comics villain Taskmaster in the conspiracy wall meme pose. His wall has pictures of other Marvel characters and papers with items and subjects from the Marvel universe. Four older women in their fifties stand menacingly on a staircase. The closest on the left is in a pink shirt and jeans, holding a gun. She has white hair, fair skin and green eyes. The woman on the right is of persian decent and is holding magical fire in her left hand. The next closest on is Black with a blue shirt and jeans.  She's adjusting her glasses. The woman farthest away is grinning wildly up with an orange aura around her. In a dark ominous cave three Black women adventurers walk along while a huge spider lurks behind them. The woman closest to the viewer is dressed like a warrior with a west African styled sword and purple, brown, and red outfit. She holds a lit torch. The woman in the middle is very short, wielding a large ornate axe and wearing furs and leathers. The woman to the rear is an elf, holding a glowing staff and in a blue gown with a collar that looks vaguely Egyptian. On the ceiling behind them the spider is brown and tarantula-like. The light shines off its many eyes.

My family explained to me one of my cousins ended up on a postcard. I don't know which one. I never want to know.

We had The Talk, we had Explain what N-Word means, before some of y'all learned to French braid your own hair.

We didn't have time to be shocked. We didn't have time to be kids, ffs.

My parents told me about lynching when I was 5 years old & we were at my aunt’s house. I couldn’t finish my caramel cake because it made me sick. These are the facts Black people grow up knowing that white culture has to get shocked at.

Leaders of Western democracies, including the UK, urgently need to re-evaluate their approach to Trump. They cannot continue to pretend that any of this is in any way normal, or that appeasement of fascism is going to help in any way.

This Reuters headline. Oof.

Fascism isn't 'coming.' It's HERE.

You could try a Cease and Desist (get someone to translate it in Dutch for you), which essentially lets them know you've caught them out and intend on bringing it forward as a legal matter if they don't remove the material. For now, it's a bluff, but an effective one until you can line things up.

"Black people are tired. Not metaphorically tired—actually tired. The kind of tired that turns every group chat into a mix of gallows humor and emotional triage."

I write about white ignorance and how exhausting it is to hear white ppl insist "this isn't who we are, when it's ALWAYS who we've been.

Disbelief over authoritarianism in America isn’t a cutesy personality trait. It’s a confession: You haven’t been paying attention.

I just really wish someone in the world of punditry would say, out loud, that Trump's obsession with the Nobel Peace Prize is entirely because That Black Man got one.

White people literally have ALL of Bluesky to do what they want. They can literally create their own server and make it is United Colors of Benetton as they want.

And yet.

I wasn't allowed to own any of these albums. There were kids in my area who were sent to "treatment facilities" because they were caught playing D&D in a basement.

I legit have wondered if the generational trauma of Gen X is playing out because a lot of our generation didn't go to therapy.

Forty years ago Prince, Madonna and Judas Priest were among stars dubbed the ‘Filthy Fifteen’ in a high-profile parents’ campaign against ‘objectionable’ music. Some of those artists, and supporters like Alice Cooper, recall a major moral panic

I was making butter beans yesterday and at the final stage decided to throw in the little pat of leftover butter. It was the right choice. I had a similar realization:

I’ve been cooking like a grandma, adding more butter, cream and/or salt to everything and I must say, there’s a reason why grandmas’ cooking is so popular.

That's brilliant! Similar initiative action here in Scotland due to a lot of invasive species (I've seen skunkweed here!), and I've been trying to do my bit here with native species promotion, when health allows.
