I hope you love something beautiful and meaningless. For me, it's football. I don't care what it is for you, but I wish you a deep love for something that means nothing until you give it meaning through your attention.

My belated suggestions for WorldCon Panels in Seattle.

-Cannibalism, what is it? How can I monetize it? Does it only occur in fiction?

-An Oral History of Writers Making a Stupid Goldfish Face For Selfies at Cons

I am begging my fellow librarians to just stop. Stop it. ChatGPT isn't our friend, it is making you worse at your job, and patrons are going to lose faith in us if this doesn't stop.
And now I am at the library and I went to the front desk to get some help looking up a very specific list of books and she just... pulled up... ChatGPT?!!??

a) I could have done that myself if it wasn't my enemy and
b) ALL SIX BOOKS IT SUGGESTED WERE WRONG

I’m FINALLY watching KAOS and I am just so devastated that it wasn’t renewed for a second season. This is SO good.

One of my coworker pals recently decided to start selling her homemade baked bread goods at farmer’s markets and online for weekly orders! I got my first batch today (she’s been bringing the goods in to work for us sample for a while) and I am just so excited about it and happy to support her!

Every time I see a cybertruck, I think about how the dude that bought it thought he was going to look SO COOL driving it, and instead he is roundly mocked by both drivers of regular trucks and drivers of non-Teslas. And also, apparently, small children

Quick and easy to do. Queer people owe everything to our trans siblings.
Did you know if you go to www.nps.gov/ston/index.htm

You can scroll to the bottom, and click NO to tell them the website isn’t helpful because they’ve erased every reference to trans people from the stonewall national monument.

Flood their damned Nazi website with feedback.

I rarely take naps because they are never planned well, but today called for one and I think someone was very pleased with the change in off-day plans.

If you only pick through and read certain sections of a book (specifically nonfiction in this case), would you could that book toward your reading goal? I’m dedicated to my reading log, but I don’t always read nonfiction cover to cover! 😭

So is anyone else canceling the majority of their streaming services and intentionally moving away from them at this point? Or is it just me?

Alright, y’all, I really want to branch out my music listening (and maybe not have the same artist be my top artist every single year) and I’m thinking about trying out a new album each week - listening from beginning to end. Anyone have good recommendations for where to start?

The thing about ChatGPT answers is that if you are already enough of an expert to know if they are correct, you don't need it, and if you aren't enough of an expert to know if they are correct, you shouldn't use it.
i can see how you would come to this conclusion if your job didn't require you to ever be correct

Just finished my ARC of The Dark Mirror and let me tell you it’s absolute torture that the book doesn’t release for another month AND THEN we will collectively have to wait another couple of years for book 6 in the series. Devastating.

I was so nervous about training someone way above my pay range on the BASICS of our ILS and then it took less than an hour and they were overly grateful that I took time out of my day to help them. Sometimes it does feel nice to get validation that I’m good at my job.

My therapy appt was canceled today (of all weeks 🥲) so I guess I have more time to read before work?

Alright, it’s time to start over. What’s good, Bluesky? Any other library folk lurking around these parts after leaving the Other Place?
