I couldn't stop thinking about this article last night, and how we're going to have to introduce a cutoff date where studies published after said date are subject to additional scrutiny or are deemed outright unfit for citation due to LLM usage

I couldn't stop thinking about this article last night, and how we're going to have to introduce a cutoff date where studies published after said date are subject to additional scrutiny or are deemed outright unfit for citation due to LLM usage

Platner is really the perfect combination of conservative confidence and liberal naivety. Watching his Reason interview, it's obvious he has the white man's natural "of course I can do this" attitude even before looking into what he's doing, and then becoming very regretful.

We've known for YEARS that there are disparities in the effectiveness of facial recognition tech used on white vs nonwhite skin. DHS using it to determine someones citizenship status is done with the expectation of glitches and the knowledge that those glitches will allow the deportation of citizens
