"factually honest" is a hell of a qualifier to throw in there when trying to argue divine right of interpretation like you do.

And is a qualifier that was not descriptive of the court outside a brief window from the Warren court through, at best, Bush v Gore

The permission of the people. The supreme court cannot enforce its own decisions. It needs the people to accept its decisions as legitimate.

If any ruling was as simple as "it's what the constitution says" we wouldn't need a SCOTUS.

They interpret, but their rank doesn't bestow their interpretations with legitimacy. Legitimacy isn't through abuse of the system. It sure isn't through unexplained shadow docket decisions.
