The science is clear: vaccines do not cause autism.

What they DO cause is immunity to deadly diseases.

RFK Jr. refuses to believe in this evidence.

I’m sad to learn that my law school classmate, Kiah Duggins, died in the DC plane crash last night.

Kiah was an exceptionally talented civil rights lawyer and aspiring legal scholar.

I hope you’ll read about her work and the causes she cared about, some of which I’ll 🧵 below.

What an immense loss

Sometimes, you have to step away from the shitstorm. There's a lot to take in right now, so take care of yourself first. This shit will wear you down. Don't allow it.
It's okay to let someone else carry this bucket of fucks for a day, or two.
Rest when you need to.

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

BTW, I published a paper in American Journal of Epidemiology outlining some of the most common fallacies that cause people to misunderstand observational data, or use observational data to mislead others with false claims.
It is now open access/freely available

Tracking vaccine effectiveness in an evolving pandemic, countering misleading hot takes and epidemiological fallacies
Abstract. With the emergence of Omicron and establishment of antibody waning over time, vaccine effectiveness, especially against infection, declined sharp

Another article explaining the many fatal flaws of the recent “paper” claiming vaccines cause autism:

news.immunologic.org/p/a-recent-s...
A recent study did NOT show vaccines cause autism, but RFK Jr. keeps pushing the lie.
Yet again, anti-vaccine activists self-published a “study” to spread disinformation and profit off fear.

There is a lot of talk about claims about vaccinations increasing autism in the news lately, with a focus on MMR vaccines, but ignore existing work looking into the question.

See this paper by Anders Hviid and his group for example …

If you're feeling overwhelmed, it's intentional. They're calling it "flooding the zone." The intent is to overwhelm and exhaust us so we can not effectively resist. Something simple you can do right now now is to make sure to take breaks and rest.

People cannot survive on calamity alone. I need news, facts, and opinions, sure, but also:

I need art
I need craft
I need design
I need memes
I need cute animal gifs
I need humour
I need passion
I need growth

I need to see people doing cool things, being frivolous, and learning.

I need humanity.
Somebody yelled at me for posting about Ganymede instead of /the state of things/ last night.

I know we’re (almost) all on the same page here, but a Bluesky without cute cats, science facts, and dumb jokes would be bad for everyone.
