New York is considering a bill to stop companies from using your personal data to raise prices.

The Preventing Algorithmic Pricing Discrimination Act would ban the use of personal information about you to change prices for goods or services.

Intuit donated $1M to Trump’s inauguration. He's now planning to end the free IRS Direct File program.

Apple donated $1M. Trump exempted most of Apple’s imports from tariffs.

Coinbase donated $1M. Trump’s SEC dropped a major lawsuit against them.

See how this works?

“Over the last 75 years we’ve seen a sharp decline in the number of doctors recommending cigarettes to their patients. And those that do report they often face harsh criticism by their colleagues.

What could possibly explain this anti-tobacco ideology that’s taken hold of the medical profession?”
Personally I think it's totally defensible for the head of a meteorology department to say, "you can't work here unless you believe in climate change." That department is going to end up with zero conservatives in it but it's not the department that needs to change!

NEW: Mahmoud Khalil's wife gave birth to their child without him after ICE denied their request to let him be present.

“This was a purposeful decision by ICE to make me, Mahmoud, and our son suffer,” Dr. Abdalla said. “My son and I should not be navigating his first days on earth without Mahmoud."

Key point that doesn’t get enough attention - tariffs are deeply regressive
I'll say it again, the tariff system is being put in place by very rich men at the top of the U.S. power system and they'll be fine whatever happens. It's worth keeping that in mind when you see something like this from the president.
Trump to American business leaders: If the tariffs wreck your company, it's your fault.

Colossally ignorant and harmful.

A thing that I find incredibly interesting is the world is full of people who genuinely believe they have a *right* to be liked and for people to be obsequious towards them. I have seen it from a wide range of people, and it never ceases to amaze me. No one *has* to be your friend!
No. Christians feel persecuted because there is a vast media apparatus telling them that they are persecuted. There is no evidence whatsoever of large-scale discrimination against Christians in this country.
Interesting story that gets to the heart of why many Christians feel persecuted in the U.S.: The secular elite find many of their views abhorrent and uncouth

Fox News reported that JD Vance had to move to an “undisclosed location” due to protests at the Vermont resort where he’s skiing this weekend. For inflicting misery on the world and here at home in America, this is exactly the energy that should greet Vance wherever he goes for the rest of his days.

Remember: The fundamental issue isn’t the size of the government or how to make government more “efficient.”

It’s who our government is for.

Should it work mainly for big corporations and billionaires, including the richest person in the world — or for the rest of us?

Was giving a presentation on the material harms of AI. Got 45min in before someone interrupted demanding to be told they could still use it. We just listened to an Ethiopian woman talk about the vile content she saw while data training, and this person just did not care. That dismissal is common.
At the end of the day, we tell you that generative AI is built on unethical copyright theft, exploits and underpays its workers, causes catastrophic environmental damage, and produces increasingly terrible looking shit, and you just decide not to care.

We can quibble about the placement of each item but the original sin here is the very existence of this graph. Why on earth would a news organization rank social issues like they're weapons in an RPG?
Of course the NYT sees the "DEI" stuff positively & is neutral on anti-trans discrimination

It is difficult to overstate just how extreme, conspiratorial, and insane RFK’s views are, on vaccines, microchips & beyond. He’s Alex Jones in a suit.
