Palestinians will feel understandable relief. The West should feel nothing but shame. Gaza has been obliterated. The territory rendered uninhabitable. Tens of thousands murdered in cold blood. The entire population subjected to starvation tactics. And now, colonial subjugation under Trump and Blair

We had years of debate about whether Trump's movement was a fascist one - I never expected them to openly identify themselves with historical fascism.

From Donald Trump's Roundtable on Antifa just now —
"Antifa has been around in various iterations for almost 100 years in some instances, going back to the Weimar Republic in Germany."

The discourse in the West for the next few days will be e.g. "for all the caveats, let's just be relieved". And no, let's not. That's a feeling for Palestinians, not us.

Palestinians are human beings who deserve much better than the choice we've given them between genocide or colonial subjugation

Even the change to formally calling for a ceasefire was meaningless given that there was no "or else" attached. The arms and intel sharing continued to flow, no sanctions were applied. They were complicit throughout.

Jonathan Ashworth: "I've wanted to see a ceasefire for 2 years"

The collective position of the Labour shadow cabinet (which you were part of) for months after October 7th was to reject a ceasefire & Labour instructed its MPs not to vote for a ceasefire in Nov 2023.

In the early 2010s it was infuriating to see endless screeds on "legitimate concerns" against East Europeans from analysts and scholars who seemed oblivious to how the moment political leaders capitulated to this xenophobia it would just lead to escalating hatemongering against other diasporas

Need to bring back official anti-racism. Even as hypocritical as it was passing the '81 Nationalities Act was you still had an official anti-racism which would have stopped Jenrick in his tracks. Another era I fear.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

Yesterday's narrative of 7 October as ‘another 9/11’ – "yet another day torn free from any history or context" with only two sides – seeks to demonise all Palestine solidarity as "pro-terrorist." 5 times I've been through the 'break / ban encryption' debate.

1st time was late 90s, trying to get encryption to use AT ALL.

Imagine what progressive tech could have built if we didn't have to drop everything to fight this BS off every few years.

At some point, you'd think they ought to conclude that *there isn't an acceptable, mandatory alternative*, and put the resources into other, more practical ways of addressing the *societal* problem of child abuse instead. But they'd rather have the means of mass surveillance and censorship. 🤷‍♂️

Incredible that the health minister, the Blairite saviour Wes Streeting is hiring the professor who ideologically fucked up diagnoses of ME/CFS at the exact point of this discovery.

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.

Where are Muslims supposed to go other than the racist formulation of "back home" anyway?

The Anglos and Europe have decided that it's acceptable to treat us as genetically antisemitic, rapist pedophiles who threaten the fabric of your perfect liberal democratic societies even without Trump.

Murray is invited to synagogues here to talk about the Muslim threat to Jewish safety, regular contributor to the Jewish Chronicle, and there's a direct line from that to Starmer talking about an island of strangers and Tory and Reform plans of deporting 15mn people.

I repeat, GRT is now primarily a Zionist theory, and been largely shorn of its antisemitic origins to be aimed squarely at Muslims, and at least in the UK, is completely mainstream.

Again, populism needs to be retired as a concept as its main purpose has been to lump left wing parties with fascists even whilst centrist parties adopt more and more of fascism's ideology.
