This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

Two things on responses like this:

1) This is a list of policies that Democratic politicos — Miller equivalents — don't agree on

2) A policy checklist, desirable as it might be, isn't an actual *vision for American society* akin to "white ethnic dominion." What kind of country do we want?
UBI
M4ALL
Publicly Funded elections
Wealth tax
Church tax
Glass-Steagle return
Reseat every federal judgeship starting with SCOTUS
Cop training in ethics + oversight
Gun/bullet restrictions
DC and PR statehood
Legal weed
VAT
No SS tax income cap

For starters

Once again, @ddotdc.bsky.social Director Kershbaum has gutted a protected #bikeDC project after years of community input with little to no explanation.

@cmcharlesallen.bsky.social it was a mistake to confirm Kershbaum and council needs to investigate how these decisions are being made.
The Bowser admin just gutted another bike lane project bikelanes.ddot.dc.gov/pages/80b2e8...

Bike lanes ripped out

Mayor Bowser has taken a hard turn against multimodal transportation. It's not just 1 or 2 projects, and it's not about their individual merits.
It’s far from the biggest issue with this decision but I can’t imagine how demoralizing it must be for DDOT planners to spend years working on a project to positively transform the city in which they live, only for it to be canceled for nakedly political reasons
It's official. The H St NE bus lanes are dead 💔

Wild ride for me:

2021: Work to get 25+ H St businesses to sign onto a letter asking for the lanes

2023: DDOT announces plan that lifts directly from the letter

2025: Dead

Next: Advocate for a robust bus/bike network around RFK

This is more important than you realize. Bluesky doesn’t downgrade links. Which means news sites will get more traffic from here than other sites.

Which gives them economic reasons to post here first.
Bluesky says it is now sending referral traffic through its "go" subdomain to make it easier for publishers to track the traffic coming from the social network (Sarah Perez/TechCrunch)

But I’m not going far: Starting March 3, I’ll take on the DC politics beat at WAMU. So cover your ears!

This is an incredible accomplishment that should serve as the inspiration for our own rezoning efforts in DC
This was a comprehensive reform that also simplified our zoning.

By that I mean no step backs, no dwelling unit per lot area, no FAR, no special permits (under 75k sqft), no parking mins…

While other reforms have limited it to 4-8 units, we’re really trying to build housing!

378k Capital Bikeshare rides in December, a 36% increase over last year!

6,114,310 rides in 2024 - that’s 1.6 million or 36.9% more than in 2023! Stoked to see what 2025 has in store!
