Just ten years ago the UK was top of the list - the best place in Europe for LGBT rights. We are now 22nd

The only country to drop faster in one year than us is Hungary

The government needs to act in a major way before this becomes their entire legacy

We launched the Society for the Study of the Past yesterday at our Palestine event - a response to the fact that our disciplinary associations have failed us. It’s already looking like the only club I want to be in… More coming soon, but for now check it out here: societyforthestudyofthepast.com

This is pretty cool... we sent off our Roman iron ring with lion-engraved intaglio to be micro-CT scanned by some Exeter university students.

We can now virtually slice the ring in any orientation to see internal corrosion and the intaglio itself (from any angle).

Resolution is... 6 microns!! 😮😎
A screen shot of a computer screen showing various windows, each showing a digital slice through a Roman ring. You can variously see different views and orientations, internal damage and the intaglio gem A Roman intaglio gem set in a corroded iron ring. The gem is blue and engraved with an image of a lion seemingly holding something in its mouth.
