The radicalization of the American right is THE story of US politics over the last four decades and political reporters are still not allowed to talk about it
I am wondering why Lisa Leher from the @nytimes.com did not discuss the data that suggests political violence in the US in the current era mostly comes from the right. Seems like a strange fact to ignore. 1/ www.nytimes.com/2025/06/14/u...

In just hours yesterday, a Trump supporter assassinated Democratic lawmakers in Minnesota. An SUV plowed into a No Kings protest in Virginia. Gunfire at the Salt Lake City rally left one critically injured.

Republicans need to stop this violence.

We should've made a bigger national crisis of someone breaking into Nancy Pelosi's home & trying to kill her husband. But then, we should've made a bigger national crisis about hundreds of someones breaking into the Capitol & trying to steal an election. But then, we should've done lots of things.

Look at Trump’s Truth Social post. Consider his call with Newsom. He is incoherent, insane. Failure of corporate press to say that every day as he is taking us down the road to a police state is the gravest journalistic malpractice in American history. They will never redeem themselves.

This is actually perfect. The emptiness makes it look as ridiculous and wasteful as it is.

It’s very possible to exploit the insane Musk/Trump rift, message against the Medicaid/SNAP cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill, & rail against the lawlessness & corruption of the Trump admin all at once. Dems should stop telling people to ignore the news. You can’t stand on the shore & block the tide.

The best part isn’t the entertainment, as great as it is.

MAGA civil war means they will likely be unable to pass anything. Like maybe not even by Sept when the debt ceiling hits. They may well have a shut down🤣

It also means they will not have the cohesion to pull off their autocracy plans

Not kind of.

It’s completely insane.

And it’s a reminder that the global economy is hostage to the whims of a guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works
It's kind of insane, though by this point entirely understandable, that Trump's threatened FIFTY PER CENT tariffs on steel from TOMORROW and everyone's like "I mean what can we do, it'll happen or it won't".

One of the worst parts of this whole ongoing ~thing~ has been watching the very few members of our media-political-intellectual-economic-etc elite who do actually care about the collapse of the constitutional order discover how few of their colleagues agree with them.
Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.
The flood of encomiums and morality tales about Elon's turn in Washington cldn't be more predictable, vapid & sickening. If you want a story, get me the story about the crisis comms team directing this. He ran anti-constitutional blitzkrieg thru the federal government, did massive harm, violated ...

If you believe these pardons that have been coming out for the magat criminal tax evaders, is no big deal, here the deal.

These folks are not just evaders, they are money launders, bank thieves, bribery takers, SS thieves and in some cases, violent criminals.

Only the best. MFers. IRS is pissed!

The attack on free speech isn’t coming—it’s already here.

Journalists are being silenced, critics are being punished, and most of the media’s playing dead.

This is state-sponsored suppression. This is dictatorship in real time.

Hey Trump, you're never supposed to say "Happy Memorial Day" – it's not a day of "Happy" – it's a solemn day to remember, honor, and mourn those in our military who gave their lives for our country.

Remember Arlington? Aisne-Marne Cemetery? We do.
